    In the Federal Census of 1860, Allen is age 17, living at Alma, Allegany Co., NY, with his married sister Aurelia Southmayd and her husband. Another married sister, Caroline Barron, is nearby with her family.

    In the Federal Census of 1870, Allen Jr. 27 and his father Allen 69 are living at Alma, Allegany Co., NY. No other family members are listed with them. Allen Sr. works in a shingle mill, and Allen Jr. is a farmer.

    In the Federal Census of 1880, Allen is married to Elva and has four children. They are living at Alma, NY.

    According to a family tree at Rootsweb's Worldconnect, Allen & Elva parted ways and she remarried to Eugene Mayo by about 1884 (this needs more research to confirm).

    In the Federal Census of 1900, Allen is age 57, living at Scio, Allegany Co., NY. With him are: Grace Allen (dtr) 26, Arthur E. Wightman (son) 24, Robert H. Wightman (son) 23, May Wightman (dtr) 19, and Charles Allen (grandson) 9.

    In the Federal Census of 1860, Allen Wightman 54 NY is listed at Half Moon (Villiage of Eau Claire City), Eau Claire Co., WI. He is working as a blacksmith, apparently staying at a hotel. Two of his married daughters later moved to Eau Claire Co., WI.

    In the Federal Census of 1870, Allen 69 and his son Allen Jr. 27 are living at Alma, Allegany Co., NY. No other family members are listed with them. Allen Sr. works in a shingle mill, and Allen Jr. is a farmer.

    The online cemetery information says Allen was born in Onondaga Co., NY, and died in Allegany Co., NY.

    The 1820 Federal Census lists Arannah Wightman in Onondaga Co., NY. I believe this must be Allen's father, based on his birth location; this agrees with two online family trees (but needs more research to confirm). His name (Arannah or Aurunah) may be written as Aaron in two censuses; the 1830 census shows Aaron Wightman age 60 - 70 at Bolivar, Allegany Co., NY; the 1840 census shows A. Wightman age 70 - 80 at Wirt, Allegany Co., NY.

    In Wellsville, Allegany Co,, NY, there is a Wightman Road, off Rt. 417. No doubt it is named for Allen's family or extended family.

    Allen married Amanda V. Unknown Abt 1833. Amanda was born May 1812, RI or MA; died 4 Sep 1901, Providence Co., RI; was buried , Mineral Springs Cemetery, Pawtucket, Providence Co., RI. [Group Sheet]

    It seems that Amanda must have left her first husband Allen in NY State and returned to her home state, where she remarried to Thomas W. Parker and had a son with him (this needs more research to confirm the particulars).

    In the Federal Census of 1850, she is Amanda V. Wightman 33 RI, living with Allen and family at Bolivar, Allegany Co., NY.

    In the Federal Census of 1880, she appears to be Amanda Parker 59 RI, wife of Thomas W. Parker 48 CT, living at Lincoln, Providence Co., RI.

    In the Federal Census of 1900, she is Amanda Parker 88 MA, mother, living with son Samuel Wightman and family at Pawtucket, Providence Co., RI.

    The cemetery data shows that she died the following year.
