Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Henry Olin, Sr. was born Between 1719 and 1720, East Greenwich, RI (son of John OLIN, I and Susannah SPENCER); died Between 1810 and 1812.

    Notes:

I believe Henry must have had three wives. Two are mentioned in his will, but there must have been an earlier wife who was the mother of his childen.

His will names his wife Martha, then later his wife Sarah, as well as three sons and three daughters, one of whom is referred to as deceased. Why doesn't he also mention his son Henry, who had probably died by then? He does name his grandson Anthony, who I am assuming is the Anthony, son of Henry Jr., who married Abigail Remington. So, it appears that three years after her mother's remarriage, Abigail married the grandson of her stepfather.

Henry married Unknown Abt 1738. died Bef 1754. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

An Abigail Remington, daughter of Matthew deceased, married Anthony Olin, son of Henry Jr., in 1793. Is Anthony's father the second husband of Abigail's mother, Martha (Randall) Remington? Or did Martha marry Henry Sr.? (needs more research)

Henry married Sarah Aylesworth 3 May 1810. Sarah was born Abt 1735; died Abt Aug 1813. [Group Sheet]

  1. 2.  John OLIN, I was born Abt 1680, Bedfordshire, England; died 28 Mar 1742, North Kingstown, RI.

    Notes:

It has been said that John Olin came to America at age 14. He most likely landed at Providence around 1694.

John & Susannah were married in 1708 at East Greenwich, and that is where their four known children were born. In 1725 they moved to North Kingstown, where they had bought 22 1/2 acres from Aaron & Mary Davis. John had been a "freeman" at East Greenwich, but in North Kingstown he was a landowning "yeoman."

John died at age 62 on his farm at North Kingstown, which had been deeded in 1741 to his daughter Eleanor and her husband Benjamin Carpenter. Although no one has discovered the location of John's & Susannah's burial site, probably their graves are on the old farm at North Kingstown.

After their marriage, Michall & Rebeccah purchased the homestead of Thomas Sweetman at the northwest corner of the Harvard College grounds in Cambridge, MA. This property was sold to Harvard in 1697, and the family moved to East Greenwich, RI.

His will mentions his wife Rebeccah, sons Thomas & Henry (possibly others -- writing unclear), and daughter Susannah Olin, wife of John Olin.

He may have been a brother of John Spencer b.c. 1640, also of East Greenwich, who had a son Michael.
