Margaret Bly was probably a widow when she married Allen. I have estimated her birth year. She was "of Berlin, NY."
The names of her children, surname Bly, were obtained from the estate documents of Allen Remington. Apparently there were some concerns over the distribution of assets, and a plea was entered on their behalf.
Before Margaret married Allen Remington, she gave birth to an illegitimate son named Benjamin, born 2 Oct 1803. After Allen and Margaret married, Benjamin was brought up in the household with the other children and took the surname Remington, as Allen was the only father he ever knew. He later moved with half-brother Daniel Bly to NY State; Benjamin married Sarah Jane Burger; their son Jeremiah Berger Remington was a notable figure in KS.Children:
