    In the 1920 census her name is spelled Arleda; in 1930 it is Arlida.

    Info from Gail Newland in Yakima, WA: "Arlida, Orlou and Seneca's dau, was married to George MacKay (sp?). They lived in Paradise, CA and both worked at Chico State College in Chico. She was still alive in April l977. I have a letter dated such primarily dealing with the Newland side. Orlou had at least three brothers: Ellsworth, Everett and Frank Newland and my father, Earl Raymond Newland and sisters Mae Bethune and Myrtle Garrett."

    In the 1920 Federal Census, Seneca H. Remington, age 41 b. KS, is living at Alameda, Alameda Co., CA. He has a wife and two children. In 1930 they are at Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., CA.

    Notes:

    In the 1880 Federal Census at Union, Clay County, KS, this family is as follows: J. N. Remington 37, Adelade 32, their 7 children -- apparently including two sets of twins, and the Remington grandparents, Seneca & Hannah. The census data at FamilySearch says Viola was a son, but I have made an assumption that she was a daughter.

    Notes:

    In the 1830 Federal Census, both Seneca and Seneca, Jr., are residing at Hinsdale, Berkshire County, MA. Sometime after this, the family must have moved to PA, where his son was born in 1843. He & Hannah are living with their son's family in Kansas in 1880.
