| I have estimated Isaac's year of birth, based on his age in the 1870 Federal Census. At that time, the family is living in East Providence, RI. Isaac is age 58 and Hannah is 53. Four of their children are in the household: Isaac R. 23, Alfred J. 20, Martha B. 22, & Hannah M. 16. In 1880, Isaac & Hannah are still at East Providence, and their daughter Mattie B. is living with them. They are near Russel D. Kent (Hannah's brother), who is living with his daughter and family, the Houghtons. Isaac's marriage is noted in the book "Genealogies of the Different Families Bearing the Name of Kent in the United States . . . " by L. Vernon Briggs, p. 149. However, this section is prefaced with the author's comment: "Others by the name of Kent whom I have been unable to locate, but who are connected with the above families, are as follows." Isaac & Hannah were both "of Seekonk," and were married by the Rev. J. O. Barney. The Kent genealogy book shows that they had two children, Alfred J. & Hannah Maria. However, someone has faintly pencilled in the margin "Isaac R. & Ruth Anne." This is partly confirmed because Isaac is in the 1870 census with his parents; however, Ruth is not. She married be married, possibly to Robert Pearse (needs more research -- see notes for Ruth). | Kent, Isaac Brown (I07540)

| I have estimated James's year of birth; his age is given as 15 in the 1841 census. (In the 1841 census ages above 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 years.) | Marshall, James (I16980)

| I have estimated Margaret's year of birth. | Gardner, Margaret (I04278)

| I have estimated Marie's birth year. She arrived at Plymouth, MA, aboard the ship "Anne" in 1623. She may have come in the care of Elizabeth Warren who came with her five daughters (see Sould Kindred article mentioned below). Her name is sometimes given as Mary Becket or Mary Bucket. The earliest written record in Plymouth gives her name as Marie Buckett. She is next mentioned in the May 1627 Division of Cattle, listing George Sowle, Mary Sowle, and Zakariah Sowle. They are included in the section "Richard Warren and his companie Joyned with him." "When she first set foot in Plymouth Colony in 1623, she was known as Marie Bucquet. In later records she was Mary. She was probably about 18 years of age in 1623 in order to travel by herself. If she was about 47 years old at the birth of her last child, she would have been born no later than about 1604." (source: The Mayflower Quarterly, Dec 2012, p 378, article by Louise Walsh Throop, MBA) Soule Kindred Newsletter, Summer 2016, "Mary Beckett -- found?" article by March Kelly: Latest research suggests that George's wife was Mary Beckett from Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Her grandfather was John Beckett, a tailor, who married Mary c1577. His will dated 20 July 1590 mentions son John Jr. and daughter Mary. John Jr. married Ann Aldyn in 1603 and they had five known children, including Mary in 1605. | BECKETT, Mary Marie (I05223)

| I have estimated Robert's birth year. On 12 July 1690 Robert calls himself son & heir of Jonathan, dec'd; sold Peter Greene 6 acres. On 17 Sep 1711 Robert's widow, Mary Sweet, who had remarried to James Sweet, had a legacy from her mother's will. (see Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of RI, p. 98) These 7 children of Robert & Mary are mentioned by name in the will dated 17 Sep 1711 of their maternal grandmother, Mary Pearce. | Hill, Robert (I05928)

| I have estimated Sarah's year of birth based on her parents' date of marriage, her own date of marriage, and her husband's date of birth. | Arnold, Sarah (I04472)
| I have estimated the ages of the four children based on the order of names in the will; Stukely Jr. is mentioned as under 21 and two of the daughters under 18. The Roger Williams Descendants book has Stukeley, Sr.'s year of birth as 1669, but that is too early, based on his mother's age. | Stafford, Stukely (I05868)
| I have estimated the birth year for John. He may be the John Northup, Esq., in the RI Cemetery Database: c1735 - 20 May 1781, buried Elm Grove Cemetery, NK. This death is also mentioned in Jeffrey Watson's Diary, which says John died the 20th, and was buried the 22nd. John's sons, John H. & Jeremiah G., are mentioned as grandsons in the will of Immanuel Northup. | Northup, John (I13936)

| I have estimated the birth years of Jonathan's children. It is thought that this couple were the parents of the David Nichols who married Mary, and had seven children, including our Priscilla who married Philip Johnson. Jonathan & Prisilla were admitted as members of Maple Root Church in 1782. Also admitted to the membership in 1782 were Eunice, Jonathan (husband & wife), Prisilla, & Sarah Nichols. I am making an assumption that Prisilla & Sarah were daughters of Jonathan & Prisilla. Our ancestor Priscilla, who married Philip Johnson, was not born until 1785. | NICHOLS, Jonathan II (I02149)

| I have estimated the birth years of some of the children, based on the order in which they are named in Elisha's will. Some genealogies show Elisha as having an earlier wife named Mary Spencer. (needs more research) Elisha's father Elkanah deeded to him on 4 February 1720 a piece of land located in Warwick that he had bought from Samuel & Susannah Gorton. | JOHNSON, Elisha (I09312)

| I have estimated the birth years of the children. A tree at Rootsweb's Worldconnect has three different wives for William. This needs more research to confirm. Torrey's "New England Marriages to 1700" p 491 has two wives for this William: Mary Walker and Prudence [unknown]. The will of William Earle of Portsmouth is dated 13 Nov 1713, and proved 8 Feb 1714. It mentions but does not name his wife; 5 sons: William, Thomas, Ralf, John, & Caleb; 3 daughters: Mary Borden, Mary Hix/Hines (possibly d-in-law), & Prudence Durfie; grandson Caleb Earle; granddaughter Joan Earle, d/o son Caleb. | Earle, William (I01603)

| I have estimated the year of marriage, based on Warren's age in 1850. | Family F07047

| I have estimated their year of marriage. | Family F00010
| I have estimated Thomas's year of birth. I have also made an assumption that the birth record of "Sarah, daughter of Thomas & Catherine" refers to this particular Thomas Northup (needs more research to confirm). Thus, I have included Catherine as his wife, and Sarah as his daughter. | Northup, Thomas (I13725)
| I have estimated Waite's birth year (subject to more research). She may be the daughter of John Tibbetts b.1737 & Waite Brown b.1741 (see elsewhere on this family tree). | Tibbetts, Waitey (I08387)
| I have estimated William's year of birth. He is mentioned in his father's 1775 will as being "of Newport." I am making an assumption that his mother was Anne, whose maternal grandfather was William Gardiner. | Slocum, William (I09436)
| I have included a wife and son for John, based on OH census data as noted below. I am not sure this is the same John Remington, but the age and state of birth agree. Therefore I am making a tentative assumption that this is the son of Jesse & Polly, and that his son is Allen. He may be the John Remington, age 50? b NH, a blacksmith, in the 1850 Federal Census living at Perkins, Erie Co., OH. He has a wife (?) Julia, 38 NY. Also in the household are Albert & Charles Nichols, ages 6 & 3 OH. Living nearby is Allen Remington, age 18 OH, who may be John's son. Is Julia possibly a second wife? Are the two boys her sons, or possibly orphaned nephews? These questions need to be researched. In the 1870 Federal Census, John Remington is age 72 NH, a day laborer, living at Vermillion, Erie Co., OH. | Remington, John (I14047)
| I have included Freelove in this family group for three reasons: her death record identifies her parents as John & Mary; she died at Portsmouth, where Edward & William also died; and, she is included in this family on Glenn Russell's family tree at Rootsweb's Worldconnect. Additionally, John Redfern's research shows that Freelove and Isaac are sister and brother, as they are buried near each other. Also, they both became church members on 22 Oct 1820 at Tiverton (see James N. Arnold's published church records). | Manchester, Freelove (I18883)
| I have made an assumption here, that "Burton, of John, of West Greenwich" belongs in this family group, since John's father was also Burton. (needs more research) | Briggs, Burton (I10441)
| I have made an assumption here, that the Albert M. Remington, age 36, in the 1880 Federal Census at Suffield, CT, is Albert Mason Remington, of this family. The age and location fit (but needs more research to confirm). His wife is Ellen, and infant daughter is Grace. In 1870, when newly married and he and his wife were still living with his parents and siblings, Albert was a wagon maker. In 1880 he is a painter. According to the census, Ellen's father was born in Massachusetts, and her mother in Maine. Albert & Ellen are buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Suffield, CT, where his parents also are buried. | Remington, Albert Mason (I08299)
| I have made an assumption that "Diadema" Auger (?), wife of Frank, listed in the 1860 Federal Census at Ellisburgh, Jefferson Co., NY, is a daughter of Palmyra Remington, because she is living there with the family. Palmyra's mother-in-law was named Diadamia. | Remington, Diadama (I11627)
| I have made an assumption that "Elizabeth Spencer, of Thomas, Deceased of NK," belongs in this family. I have also estimated her birth year. (needs more research) | Spencer, Elizabeth (I10443)
| I have made an assumption that Adelbert is a son of Wiliam & Emma, because he and his family are living next to them in the 1910 census. They are at Red House, Cattaraugus Co., NY. Adelbert & Hattie have four children and a stepson (Lee Hall, 16) in the household. In the Federal Census of 1930, Delbert & Pearl R. Remington, ages 53 & 35, are living at Red House, Cattaraugus Co., NY. They have eight children in the household. The oldest, Halsey D., 21, is from Delbert's first marriage. They are living next to Williwm W. & Alice F. Remington, assumed to be Delbert's brother and sister-in-law. | Remington, Adelbert "Delbert" (I23008)
