4728 | In the record of his birth, the last digit was burned off, so his exact birth year is not known. DAR files have it as 1739. The gravestone says he died in his 84th year. Shirley Greene's notes (email) say he left over 100 descendants (from obit in Prov Journal?). James Austin: Rev War Soldier's Book 2 p. 15 at Knight Memorial Library, Elmwood Ave., Cranston, RI 1775 Capt. Phillips Co., Col. Richmond's Regt. 1777 Capt. Benj. Hopkins Co., Col. The first Austin, James, was in North Kingstown in the early 1730s. His old homestead stood east of the Post Road opposite Frenchtown Road, on the slope overlooking the Hunt River north of where Grossman's now stands. His great grandson, Fones, occupied it for many years. It was torn down in the mid-1920s having become derelict and a haven for tramps. Austin Road and Austin Farm Bridge on the Post Road are named for the several farms owned by successive generations of Austins." (source: "Graveyards of North Kingstown, Rhode Island" by Althea H. McAleer, Beatrix Hoggius, and Deby Jecoy Nunes; 1992.) | AUSTIN, James (I00468)

4729 | In the Remington Family book, Martha A. Benns gives her name as Innocent Taylor. From the records, it appears that this marriage to Benjamin Taylor was a first marriage for our Innocent, and that these are not two different Innocent Taylors. In any case, David Lake named his daughter as Innocent Remington in his will, so that has been documented. Her year of birth is given as 1722 on the Brayton plaque at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Tiverton, RI. One genealogy has her age at death as 91, which places her birth year at c1718. | LAKE, Innocent (I04026)
4730 | In the Remington Famly book, Martha A. Benns has the marriage date as Nov. 12, 1772. Apparently James A. Arnold's Vital Records say this, perhaps due to an error by a clerk in the original records, or a mistranscription. However, if this date is accurate, it must be a different Rosanna, d/o a different Peleg. | Family F01714

Elizabeth Warren died at over 90 years of age. | WALKER, Elizabeth (I17952)

4736 | In the will of her father Nicholas, Abigail is identified as the wife of Richard Fenner, Esq. Abigail is mentioned as Abigail Fenner, dec'd. in the will of her sister Lydia (Sheldon) Arnold, dated 3 Aug 1774. Abigail's four sons are also mentioned in the will. Abigail is also mentioned in the will of her husband, Richard, dated 8 Sept 1772, but she is not mentioned as deceased. This is likely because he had a second wife of the same name. | Sheldon, Abigail (I10836)
4737 | In the will of Molly's father, she is called Molly Niall, and the will was witnessed by a Benjamin Niall. For this reason, it has been believed that she was married to Benjamin Niall. However, the will of Samuel Viall mentions his wife Molly. Cemetery Transcriptions from the NEHGS Manuscript Collection: Viall, Mrs. Molly Widow of Samuel Viall Died Apr. 3, 1825 In her 67th year; Little Neck Cemetery East Providence, Providence Co., RI | Remington, Molly Watson (I04190)

4743 | In various places her name has been spelled as Annloire, Anneloire, Ann Louisa, and Ann L. The Remington genealogy from Virginia Adair (and given to the Roger Williams Family Association) has Louisa, b1800, marrying George Moore. It also lists another sister named "Samiloire" who supposedly also married George Moore. According to James N. Arnold's transcription of the Cranston records, the two were married on the exact same date, but two years apart. It seems clear to me that this is the same individual, and that there must have been an error in the transcription, perhaps recorded some time afterwards. In the 1860 Federal Census, George & Ann L. Moore are living in Providence, RI. Her age fits "Louisa" in the typed genealogy from Mrs. Adair. Also, the RI Cemetery Database has her name as Ann Louisa (Remington) Morse, d/o Capt. Charles Remington, and w/o George Morse. Possibly Moore was misread on the gravestone as Morse. However, their marriage announcement in the Providence Phenix identifies the couple as Ann Louisa Remington & George Morse. The marriage record says she was "of Charles." | Remington, Anne Louisa (I14878)

4749 | Information at findagrave.com http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=12535626 "The daughter of King Edward I and Eleanor of Castile, she was born at Acre, Israel, while her father was on crusade. She married Gilbert of Clare, 3rd Earl of Gloucester on April 30, 1290 at Westminster Abbey. They had 4 children before Gilbert's death in 1295. She then married Ralph Monthermer, 1st Baron Monthermer, a knight in her household, in 1297 without her father's consent. Enraged at his daughter's lowly second marriage, Edward I had Monthermer thrown in prison. Joan begged for his release, and the king relented, giving Monthermer the title Earl of Gloucester. Joan died at her manor in Clare at the age of 35. Though the exact cause of her death is unknown, some historians have recently theorized she may have died giving birth to a fifth child by Monthermer. The remains of an altar recess on the ruins of the south wall of the abbey are thought to be Joan's tomb. A friar reported that in 1359, Joan's daughter Elizabeth DeBurgh inspected her mother's tomb and found the remains to be incorrupt. Since then, there have been reports of miraculous healing of toothache, fever, and back pain there." 4750 | Information concerning her surname came from "Family Notes," a group of unpublished manuscripts compiled by James N. Arnold, and located at the Knight Library in Providence. This gives her birthdate as 20 May 1722, while Maytum's notes at Newport Historical Society says 20 Jul 1722. Arnold gives her date of death as 17 Mar 1817, while Maytum gives it as 17 May 1817. Neither gives a source as documentation. She is also mentioned as Freelove Allen, wife of William Remington, on the back of an old photo of George Wait Remington, as his great-grandmother. Could she be a daughter of William & Freelove (Tillinghast) Allen? They had a daughter Patience who married William Maccoone on 2 April 1738. Freelove would definitely fit into this time frame for their family group. (needs more research) She could easily be a daughter of one of the Allen families from Prudence Island, as the land evidence from Portsmouth mentions a William Remington of Prudence Island who had a wife named Freelove (Portsmouth land evidence dated 25 Dec 1764, Bk 6 p. 123 & 126). Son Hezekiah had a grandson named Stephen Allen Remington, so the Allen name reoccurs in the family. | Allen, Freelove (I05863)
