- Cyrus was "of West Greenwich."
Probably his middle name was Gibbs, and he was the son of Joseph (1781-1843) and Sally (Gibbs) (1783-1832) Place, who are buried in the same cemetery. Possibly Cyrus's mother Sally Gibbs was a sister of Col. Samuel Gibbs (b.c. 1777), who married Cyrus's sister-in-law, Mary "Polly" Remington.
Sadly, it appears that Cyrus and Susan had three children who died young. In the same cemetery are graves for Sally Gibbs Place 1843-1844, Joseph Andrew Place 1847-1848, and Joseph Andrew Place 1849-1853.
Cyrus's two wives were first cousins, since Rosannah's father was Oliver Matteson, brother of Patience Matteson, who was Susan's mother.
