- According to Greene, Frank L., "Descendants of Joseph Greene of Westerly, R.I." p. 277, Amelia Axca Greene m. Sheldon Remington. She died when her baby was a week old. Sheldon married again and lived in Mexico, NY as of 1894 when the book was published. Child by Amelia: Lella Eva Amelia; m. ________Crowfoot and res. in Syracuse in 1894.
In the 1850 Federal Censuses, Shelden Remington is age 25 NY, a constable (?), living with Joseph & Roxany Whitney at Mexico, Oswego Co., NY.
In the 1860 census there is an Ella Remington, age 5, living with Lydia Remington, Sheldon's mother, at Mexico, NY. This is probably Lella, Sheldon's daughter.
Also in 1860, Sheldon Reming, age 34 is living at Clay, Onondaga Co., NY. His wife, Elizabeth is age 28.
In 1870 Sheldon Remington is living at Palermo, Oswego Co., NY. His wife is Elizabeth and they have a son, Lee, age 8.
In 1880 the family is still at Palermo, NY. Sheldon "Reming" is age 54, Elizabeth is 46, and son Lee is 18.

Sheldon Remington is on a list of assistant collectors for 1859, Canal Collector's Office, Hungerford Block, Oswego, NY (Hancock's Directory Information, available online): "Remington Sheldon, ass't canal collector, boards Niagara House."
