- I am not sure that John Remington is Allen's father, but since they are living near each other in the 1850 census, it is a reasonable assumption. It is also unclear whether Julia is his mother, stepmother, or another relative.
In the 1850 Federal Census Allen is age 18, living at Perkins, Erie Co., OH, with Aaron Whipple 33 NY and his (probable) mother Lydia Whipple 60 NY and Eliza Whipple 24 NY. A later census notes that Allen is Aaron's nephew.
They are next to John B. & Rhoda Hunter and their six children, including a son named Remington. Are they related to Allen? Next to the Hunters is John Remington 50 NH and his household -- possible wife Julia Remington 38 NY, and Albert & Charles Nichols, ages 6 & 3.
In the 1860 Federal Census Allen is age 28 OH, still living with Aaron (40) & Lydia (60) Whipple, at Perkins, Erie Co., OH. Julia Remington age 50 NY is living in the same town, but John is not listed anywhere that I can see. With her are Jacob Nichols 38 PA, as well as Albert & Charles Nichols, 16 & 13 OH.
In 1870 Allen is married and still living at Perkins, OH. He is age 37 OH; his wife Quintrilla is 24 OH. They have a son, Edward 1 OH. Aaron Whipple 50 NY is the head of the household. Next to or near them is Jacob Nichols 48, along with Catherine (wife?) 36, Charles 24, and Marshall 5; they are next to Remington & Maria Hunter and their 4 children (Remington is s/o John B & Rhoda Hunter).
In 1880 Allen & Quintrilla, ages 61 & 47, are still living with Aaron Whipple 61 NY. The census notes that Aaron is their uncle. There are four Remington children in the household: Edward 12, Allen 9, Cora 6, and Susan 3, all b OH. They are still next to the family of Jacob Nickols.
In the Federal Census of 1900, Allen & Quintrilla are still at Perkins, OH. With them is married daughter Cora B. Anthony and her two children, Ralph & Esther. Also there are two other daughters, Susie & Ellen Ann (?).
