In the 1911 England census, John 18 and his brother Horace 17 were living with their maternal grandfather, Charles Thrall.

This was the address that my aunts wrote to in the early-to-mid 1900s: Mr. John J. Coleman, 19, Harvey Ro. Long Lane, Hillingdon, Middlesex, England. Also John Coleman, 32 Walkden St., Mansfield, England.

I don't know what became of John -- I wish any relatives in England would find this family tree and get in touch. We have photos of him that he sent to my grandmother up until the 1940s.

There was a note in my mom's birthday book: John Coleman's wedding anniversary 23 May (no year); that may refer to this individual.

I have found a date of death in 1960 for a John J. Coleman age 67 in Mansfield, so I am assuming it is this same individual as the age and location seem correct (needs more research to confirm).

This John J. Coleman likely married Edith Marshall in Jul/Aug/Sep 1917, Mansfield; and he probably married Annie Geary in Southwell in Apr/May/Jun 1933. I have added his wife as Ethel and the two children from the birth index. I am assuming Annie was a second wife after his first wife died. In the 1939 England and Wales Register, Annie is his wife, and the two children are in the household. They are still at 32 Walkden St.

There is a birth record for a John J. Coleman in Mansfield in Jan/Feb/Mar 1923. Probably this is "Cousin Johnnie" in the photos we have; I am leaning toward that conclusion.

Excerpted from my mother's letter to my father dated 27 October 1943: "We got a letter from Aunt Florrie today, and also one from Horace, John's brother. He sent us two pictures -- one of himself and his wife, and the other of his wife and another girl . . . He is a nice looking fellow and wrote a good letter."

In 1939 he appears to be single and living in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. His dob is given as 2 Mar 1918.

I think this is the "Cousin Johnnie" we have photos of from the 1940s. Two are military photos.

One family tree at ancestry says he died in 2005 at Chiltern, Buckinghamshire, England.

I found three individuals with the same name in the records; one died in 2002 and the other two died in 2005. I will need to confirm that this John actually is one who died in 2005.
