Ruth married Enoch Remington, II 5 Aug 1790, Barrington, RI. Enoch (son of Enoch Remington, I and Molly Watson) was born 20 Jul 1768, RI; died 1 Jan 1794, Prince's Hill Burial Ground, County Rd., Barrington, RI. [Group Sheet]

1. Samuel Watson Remington was born 4 Jan 1791, Barrington, RI; died 25 Mar 1850, Warren, RI.
2. Enoch Remington, III was born 3 May 1792, Barrington, RI; died 6 Aug 1864, Providence, RI; was buried , Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI.
3. Ruth Remington was born 28 Dec 1793, RI; died Aft 1 Jun 1870.

Notes:

The RI Cemetery Database gives his dates of birth and death exactly the same as his wife's. Perhaps he is actually buried in Vermont, where he died (?), rather in the Newman Cemetery in East Providence, where Ruth is buried.

John & Ruth had 10 children: Sylvester, Joseph, Molly, Hannah, Betty, Russell, Ruth, Olive, John, & Pruda. John and his second wife Chloe had a daughter Abigail. Information on all of these is included in "The Armington Family in America," but I have given data on only the three who link to other families on this tree.

John married Ruth Kent 11 Jan 1757, Rehoboth, MA. Ruth (daughter of Hezekiah Kent and Ruth Cooper) was born 3 Mar 1736/37, Rehoboth, MA; died 7 Jan 1787; was buried , Newman Cemetery, Pawtucket Ave., East Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]

Need to verify the following information from the "The Chaffee Genealogy," as some of it may pertain to Joseph's father:
Joseph was a native the Island of Guernsey, England, but had resided in London for some years. He arrived at Boston, Massachusetts Bay, in 1713 or 1718. He later settled at Seekonk, MA, near Providence, RI. There he was a brickmaker by trade. He died in England during a trip there to settle his affairs. His widow lived in Roxbury, MA, where she opened a school and is said to have taught French.

From "The Armington Family in America":
Joseph came to America with his parents and probably his sisters. After serving an apprenticeship as a brickmaker in Dorchester, MA, he went to Rehoboth, MA, and started his own business there. The inventory of his estate mentioned that he was in the process of building a brick school house when he died.

According to descendant Asa W. Armington, writing in 1846, Joseph died about 1747 of dysentery and was buried in the yard at Seekonk Meeting House.

Joseph married Hannah Chafee 27 May 1729, Rehoboth, MA. Hannah (daughter of Jonathan CHAFFEY and Hannah CARPENTER) was born 3 Oct 1707, Rehoboth, MA; died 22 Feb 1799. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

According to the Kent genealogy book, Hezekiah and his wife Ruth were both "of Rehoboth." They had seven children, including three sons named Hezekiah.

Hezekiah married Ruth Cooper 4 Jan 1727/28. [Group Sheet]

These are some of Jonathan's children.

The following information is extracted from William H. Chaffee's "The Chaffee Genealogy," published by Grafton Press in the early 1900s:

"Jonathan Chaffe was several times chosen a grand juryman, also elected selectman, field driver, tything man, etc." In 1727 the town of Rehoboth appointed him to prepare and oversee a plan to locate schools throughout the town. He is known to have bought land in Ashford, CT, which he gave/sold to his eldest son, Jonathan, and to his brother David. Records also show that he became guardian of his brother Noah's two orphaned sons, presumably after 1736. Land deeds refer to Jonathan as "Yeoman," "husbandman," and "Mason."

The old burying ground by the Congregational Church in Rumford, RI, has a stone which reads:
Jonathan Chaffe
Departed this life
December 31, 1766
in the 89th year of
his age.

Jonathan married Hannah CARPENTER 23 Nov 1703, Rehoboth, MA. Hannah (daughter of William CARPENTER and Miriam SEARLES) was born 10 Apr 1685; died 1777. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

Joseph Kent was a representative from Swansea to the Massachusetts General Court for many years.

I am not sure which of his wives was the mother of his children. The data in the Kent book is inconclusive.
