    Notes:

    Emory Remington was chairman of brass, woodwinds and percussion when he died in 1971 after playing 1st trombone in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for twenty-six years. Emory and his brother Frederick taught at the Eastman School of Music at Rochester, New York from 1922 till 1946. Frederick played trumpet in the orchestra.     In the Federal Census of 1930, the two brothers and their families are living near each other in Rochester, NY.

In almost 50 years at Eastman, he taught hundreds of students who went on to hold positions in virtually all of the country

    Note at Rootsweb from descendant Margaret Fish: "I descend from Col. Thaddeus Remington of C'd'g'a, through son Thad Jr., and his daughter Mary. And finally, after 9 years, found a book which verifies he was married in Granby, Conn. (near Suffield) to Betsy Root (some NY books said Nelson) on Jan. 28, 1793. He died 19 Sept. 1838 and Betsy died 24 Dec. 1855."

    "Overlooking Centerfield was the home of Colonel Thaddeus Remington, the maternal grandparent, who had given his own name to the hill upon which he had built his log-house in 1798. Colonel Remington was the eldest of three brothers who came from Vermont, where the traditions of the family run back until they are lost to record. By his solicitations two younger brothers, who had come from Vermont to Connecticut, were induced to come west to make a settlement, and one of them selected Henrietta and the other Mumford, in Monroe county."     Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Betsey Remington is age 77, born in CT, and is living at Canandaigua, Ontario, NY, with John & Sophia Fosket/Foskett. Possibly Sophia is her daughter (needs more research).

    The death notice said she died at age 81.
