In the 1850 Federal Census, Thaddeus is age 55, and living in Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY. In the household are (assumed) sons Thaddeus B., Thomas A., Martin, and Chauncey, and (assumed) daughter Eunice, plus two other individuals. In 1870 Thaddeus is age 76, still living in Canandaigua, with son Thaddeus B. and his family.

Thaddeus married Rhoda Root 10 Feb 1818, Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY. Rhoda was born Abt 1799, West Stockbridge, Berkshire County, MA; died Bef 1 Jun 1850. [Group Sheet]

1. Mary Remington was born 12 Sep 1818, NY; died 18 Apr 1889.
2. Thaddeus B. Remington was born Abt 1819, NY; died Aft 1 Jun 1880.
3. Roswell R. Remington was born Abt 1 Jun 1821, NY; died 13 Apr 1886; was buried , Walnut Hill Cemetery, Baraboo, Sauk Co., WI.
4. Thomas A. Remington was born Abt 1824, NY; died Aft 1 Jun 1850.
5. Eunice E. Remington was born Abt 1828, NY.
6. Martin Remington was born Abt 1829, NY.
7. Chauncey Remington was born Abt 1833; was buried , Remington-Root Cemetery, Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY.

Note at Rootsweb from descendant Margaret Fish: "I descend from Col. Thaddeus Remington of C'd'g'a, through son Thad Jr., and his daughter Mary. And finally, after 9 years, found a book which verifies he was married in Granby, Conn. (near Suffield) to Betsy Root (some NY books said Nelson) on Jan. 28, 1793. He died 19 Sept. 1838 and Betsy died 24 Dec. 1855."

"Overlooking Centerfield was the home of Colonel Thaddeus Remington, the maternal grandparent, who had given his own name to the hill upon which he had built his log-house in 1798. Colonel Remington was the eldest of three brothers who came from Vermont, where the traditions of the family run back until they are lost to record. By his solicitations two younger brothers, who had come from Vermont to Connecticut, were induced to come west to make a settlement, and one of them selected Henrietta and the other Mumford, in Monroe county." Thaddeus married Betsy Root or Nelson 28 Jan 1793, Granby, CT. Betsy was born Abt 1770, CT; died 24 Dec 1855, Centerfield, Ontario Co., NY. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census, Betsey Remington is age 77, born in CT, and is living at Canandaigua, Ontario, NY, with John & Sophia Fosket/Foskett. Possibly Sophia is her daughter (needs more research).

The death notice said she died at age 81.

Thomas and Mary, his wife, were first cousins.

Thomas married Mary Remington 19 Feb 1755, Suffield, Hartford, CT. Mary (daughter of Stephen Remington, I and Sarah Barlow) was born 25 Jan 1736/37, Suffield, Hartford, CT. [Group Sheet]

Boyd Scott Remington's Remington Ancestry Chart at RIHSL has Daniel's date of birth as 18 Feb 1706.

The Suffield records show a birth to a son of Daniell & Sarah Remington: Abijah, who died at about 14 months on 8 July, no year given.

He may be the Daniel Remington of Suffield who later married Mrs. Susannah Bush, widow, in 1770, as her fourth husband.

Daniel married Sarah Winchell 7 Jan 1730/31, Suffield, Hartford County, CT. Sarah (daughter of Jonathan Winchell and Sarah Hovey) was born 14 Oct 1711; died Aft 1747. [Group Sheet]

I am assuming that the Stephen in the DAR Patriot Index, married to Sarah Barbow, is this same Stephen. He is the only one I have found thus far for this time and place.

BSRs chart says he was born 3 Jan.

Stephen married Sarah Barlow Abt 26 Apr 1735. Sarah (daughter of James Barlow and Mary Harmon) was born 14 Jan 1716/17, Suffield, Hartford County, CT. [Group Sheet]
