    In the 1920 Federal Census, Catherine is a widow, age 57, living at Buffalo, NY. With her is son Leon 21 and widowed daughter Gertrude Remington 25 and infant grandson Thomas Frederick Remington 7 mos. Catherine 67 is still living at Buffalo in 1930, with daughter Gertrude 35 and grandson "Frederick" 11. All were born in NY. Catherine's parents were born in "Free Ireland."

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Silas & Louisa ("Lovica") are living at Wheatland, Monroe Co., NY, with their children Sarah 17 & Silas H. 10. Silas, age 44 b. VT, is a manufacturer, and his property is valued at $600. They are living a few doors down from his brother William and family. Next door is Jerusha Allen and her family; I believe she is a sister of William and Silas.

    In 1860 the family is still at Wheatland: Silas 52 VT woolen manufacturer, Lovica 53 NY weaver, Sarah E. 27 NY teacher, and Silas H. 19 laborer.

    In the Federal Census of 1870, "Sylas" & "Lavina" both aged 63 are still living at Wheatland, NY. With them is Elvira, 21.

    Some information on Silas, including his dob, birthplace, marriage, and children, came from a descendant, Thomas Frederick Remington III. This information was compiled by Thomas from a family Bible in the possession of Carolyn Kelly as of 15 August 2003.
