    Notes:

    In the 1860 Federal Census, Joseph and his two children, Cora & Levi, are living with his parents Levi & Asenath, and other siblings, at Grand Blanc, Genesee Co., MI. He is widowed at this time, as his first wife, Caroline, died in 1859.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, Joseph (age 38) & Amanda ( age 36) are living at Gaines, Genesee Co., MI. In the household are Joseph's two children by his previous marriage, Cora & Levi. Also there is Sarah Derby, age 18, Amanda's sister; and Edwin & Edward Herrick, both age 14, b. WI; and Porter Snow, no relationship specified. They are next door to brother Eli Remington and his wife "Harietta" and their children.

    In the 1880 Federal Census, Joseph & Amanda are living at Gaines, Genesee Co., MI, with adopted daughter Anna, age 7, and nephew Franklin, 11 (possibly Isaac's or Thomas's son?). Also in the household is John Foster (relationship not mentioned), and Sarah Darby, age 28, sister-in-law. They are next door to Charles H. & Annette Darby -- probably related to Amanda & Sarah. Other Remington relatives are in town, also.

    In 1900 Joseph & Amanda are living at Flint, Genesee Co., MI. They are next to Fred & Minnie Remington.

    Joseph married Caroline Cornelia Babcock 19 Mar 1855, Genesee Co., MI. Caroline was born 2 Aug 1836; died 9 Apr 1859, Genesee County, MI; was buried , Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, MI. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Levi is age 45, b. CT. He is living at Grand Blanc, Genesee Co., MI, with his wife "Sarah" and ten of their children. They are near John 40 & Julia A. Remington 36 and their three children. They are still there in 1860, when the family consists of: Levi, 54; Acinith, 45; Isaac, 18; Thomas, 17; William, 15; Peter, 13; Norman, 9; David, 2; Rachel, 24; & Lucy, 17; also widowed son Joseph, 26; and his two children, Cora, 4; & Levi, 2.

    In 1870 the family is at Clayton, Genesee, MI: Levi, 64; Asenath, 54; Rachel, 34; Norman, 14; Peter, 22; Julia, 19 (assume Peter's wife?). They are next door to Sabestin, Laura, and their son Justin.

    In the 1880 census, Levi is still at Clayton, Genesee Co., MI, age 74, b. CT, with wife "Asenith" age 64, b. NY. In the household is son Norman 24, his wife Emma 25, and their two children; also adult children Peter & Rachel.

    Don Appleby's genealogy web site adds a son Franklin to these children. However, I don't think Franklin belongs in this family group, because he is in the 1880 census as age 11, a nephew listed in the household of Joseph & Amanda.

    A Remington manuscript in the Special Collections at NE Hist Gen Soc includes a son Franklin.

    Levi died at age 81 y 7 m 4 d.

    Levi married Asenath Allen 29 May 1831, Rush, NY. Asenath (daughter of William Allen and Esther Goff) was born 29 Aug 1815, NY; died 3 Dec 1884, Swartz Creek, Genesee County, MI; was buried , Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, MI. [Group Sheet]
