  1. 1.  Elizabeth "Betsey" Stafford was born Between 1782 and 1785 (daughter of John Stafford and Mary Arnold); died 28 Mar 1866; was buried , John Stafford Lot, Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI.

    Notes:

    The RI Cemetery Database has Betsey's year of birth as c1785. She was age 67 in the 1850 Federal Census, which would suggest a birth year of c1783. The date of death in the cemetery data is 28 March 1866; the NASDAR Report of General Records, 1959, p. 57, Bible record of the family of John & Mary (Arnold) Stafford, has Betsey's date of death as 10 March 1866.

    The book "Descendants of Roger Williams, Book I," the Waterman and Winsor Lines, p. 71, also gives the parentage of Betsey Stafford. It says she was born 1785, and married Alphonso Armington and/or Charles B. Remington.

    In the 1860 Federal Census, Betsey Remington is age 76, living in Cranston, RI, with her son Benjamin W. Remington and his family.

    Elizabeth married Charles Remington Abt 1811. Charles (son of Thomas Remington, Jr. and Mary Wood) was born Abt 1778, RI; died 14 Mar 1857, Providence, RI; was buried , John Stafford Lot, Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI. [Group Sheet]

    2. Elizabeth Betsey S. Remington was born 1814; died 25 Dec 1851; was buried , King-Randall Lot, Cranston, RI.
    3. Benjamin Warren Remington was born 15 Jul 1817, RI; died 24 Jul 1884, Seekonk, MA; was buried , Locust Grove Cemetery, Providence, RI.
    4. Charles Henry Remington, Sr. was born Between 1820 and 1822, RI; died 23 Nov 1861.

    Notes:

    According to the book "Descendants of Roger Williams, Book I," pp. 71 & 72, John & Mary's known children were: Joseph, Anne, Betsy, Mary, and Roby; also possibly Juliana.

    Notes:

    I have estimated the ages of the four children based on the order of names in the will; Stukely Jr. is mentioned as under 21 and two of the daughters under 18. The Roger Williams Descendants book has Stukeley, Sr.'s year of birth as 1669, but that is too early, based on his mother's age.

    Edwards' will, March 8, 1784, proved June 12, 1786, mentions his wife, Hannah; daughters Freelove Jerauld (wife of Duty), Sarah Stafford (wife of Stuckley), Hannah Greene, Anna (Anne) Rice (wife of Job); and son, Caleb."

    Edward married Hannah Matteson 9 Mar 1719/20. [Group Sheet]
