Warren D. Remington

In the 1920 Federal Census, Warren & Jessie are living at Union, Broome Co., NY. They have three children: Frank E., Florence E., & Frances I. It is difficult to read some of the writing and the ages.

In 1920 Warren & Jessie are not found in the census. However, four of their children (apparently) are living with their maternal grandparents, Frank E. & Addie M. Furman, at Tunkhannock, Wyoming Co., PA. Their names are listed as Frank E., 13; Elizabeth A., 11; Isabel E., 11; and Stanley R., 9 (all surname Remington).

Warren — Jessie E. Furman. Jessie (daughter of Frank E. Furman and Addie M. Unknown) was born Abt 1890; died Bef 1 Jun 1930. [Group Sheet]

1. Frank E. Remington was born Abt Mar 1917, PA.
2. Florence E. or Elizabeth A. Remington was born Abt Feb 1918, PA.
3. Frances I. or Isabel E. Remington was born Abt Nov 1919, PA.
4. Stanley R. Remington was born Abt 1921, NY.

Notes:

In the 1900 Federal Census, George & Ella are living at Washington, Wyoming Co., PA. George is a farmer, the three older boys are farm laborers, and the two youngest are "at school."

In the 1920 Federal Census, George & Ella are ages 60 & 58, and are still living at Washington, Wyoming Co., PA. Their son George M. Remington, 28, is with them.

Information on Ella's maiden name was obtained from the papers of Mary E. Rice of East Greenwich, RI, a researcher for many years. Her collection has been given into the care of the North Kingstown Library in Wickford, RI.

In the 1860 Federal Census, Jerome & Sarah are living in Washington, Wyoming Co., PA. They have a young son, George E., and are living next door to Jerome's parents, George & Eunice.

In 1870, the family is still in Washington, PA, next door to Jerome's parents. They have five children.

In 1880, Jerome & Sally are still in the same town. Their five children are there, plus another girl named Mary F____ , age 18 (foster daughter?). Also with them is Jerome's mother, age 72.

In 1900 Jerome & Sallie are ages 73 & 64. They are living at Tunkhannock, Wyoming Co., PA. With them is Mary Flumenfelt (?), age 37 PA, single, their daughter (see 1880 census also). She must be adopted because it says her father was born in NJ, her mother in PA.

I have a photograph of Ida, Nora, Huldah, & Annie Remington taken about 1874, and given to me by Betty Malesky. They are pictured with their cousin Bertie Carr.

Jerome married Sarah Ann Shupp Abt 1858, PA. Sarah was born 3 Mar 1836, PA; died 13 Apr 1874, PA; was buried , Prevost Cemetery, Russell Hill, Wyoming Co., PA. [Group Sheet]

In the 1910 Federal Census, Sallie M. Remington is age 74 and a widow. She is living at 356 McComb St., Tunkhannock, PA. With her is daughter (adopted?) Mary, 47.

Notes:

I am making an assumption that the George Remington, b. RI, living in Washington, Wyoming Co., PA in the 1850, 1860, & 1870 Federal Censuses, is this George, since the time frame is right, and he does not appear anywhere in RI. I am also adding the information for his wife, children, and grandchildren, with the assumption this is the correct family group for them. (needs more research to confirm)

George married Eunice Vosburg Abt 1826. Eunice was born 1 Feb 1808, PA; died 18 Jul 1888; was buried , Prevost Cemetery, Russell Hill, Wyoming Co., PA. [Group Sheet]

In the 1880 Federal Census, Eunice Remington is age 72, apparently widowed, and living with her son's family in Washington, PA.
