    Notes:

    Her name is difficult to read in the 1900 census record, but in 1910 it appears to be Willie M -- a female.

    Notes:

    In 1900 the family is living at Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA. John's father and stepmother are living with them.

    In 1910 John C. & Leila Remington are still at Columbus, GA. With them are a daughter and son, Willie M. & John C. They are next to (or with) the Sizemore (?) family. I am assuming the wife, Beulah Sizemore, is a daughter of John & Leila.

    John married Leila Unknown Abt 1881. Leila was born Sep 1866, GA; died Aft 1 Jun 1930. [Group Sheet]

    In the 1930 Federal Census, Leila is widowed, age 63, and living at Godfrey, Bibb Co., GA.

  1. 4.  John Remington, Jr. was born 25 Feb 1832, Mendon, MA (son of John Remington, Sr. and Hannah S. Remington); died Aft 1 Jun 1900.

    They may be the John & Sarah Remington, ages 28 & 27, living at Augusta, Kennebec Co., ME, in 1860.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, John & Sarah are both aged 38 and are living at Waltham, Middlesex Co., MA. They have two sons: John, 8, and Ernest, 5, both born in Maine. Also with them is Mary Remington, 45 MA, probably John's sister.

    By 1880 John is living at Nances, Muscogee Co., GA. He has another wife, so probably Sarah has died. The household consists of: John Remington 48 MA (works in cotton mill), Frances 39 GA (his wife), John Remington 17 ME (son - clerk in grocery store), William Remington 21 MA (works in cotton mill-- not sure who he is), James Bostwick 18 MA (brother-in-law, works in cotton mill), Ella Bostwick 49 (boarder), and Mary Heard 39 GA (boarder).

    In 1900 John Remington is 68 and living in Ward 6, Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA. Frances is age 49, but probably it should read 59. Also, it says they have been married 17 years, but that does not seem right either. They are with his son John and family.

    John married Sarah C. Whittier 1 Sep 1853, Solon, ME. Sarah (daughter of Enoch Cummings Whittier and Sybil Walker) was born 1833, Solon, ME; died Between 1870 and 1880. [Group Sheet]

    John's death record at Blackstone, MA, names his parents as Benedict and Ruth Remington.

    In the 1830 Federal Census, John was residing at Mendon, Worcester County, MA.

    In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is at Blackstone, Worcester Co., MA. In the household are John 56, Hannah 57, Ann C. 33, Ruth 30, Eunice S. 26, Mary C. 23, & John Jr. 18. All of the children were born in MA, as was their father. Also living there is Horace Parmenter, 27 CT. Is he a relative?

    In 1860 they are still at Blackstone. The family group consists of the following: John 67, Hannah 68, Mary 34, Mason DeWitt (Mason D. White) 45, Sarah (his wife) 32, and their three young children -- Lizzie 5, Mason W. 2, & Evaline 6 mos.

    John married Hannah S. Remington 3 Apr 1815, Mendon, MA. Hannah (daughter of Tiddeman H. Remington and Elizabeth Sheffield) was born 14 Jan 1792, Jamestown, RI; died 27 Dec 1875, Blackstone, MA. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    According to her death record, Hannah died at age 83 y 11 m 17 d, cause of death was "old age." It ways she was a widow, died in Blackstone, and was born in Jamestown, RI. Her parents are given as Tideman & Elizabeth Remington. In the 1870 Federal Census, Hannah Remington is age 78, widowed, and living at Blackstone, MA, with her daughter Sarah and family. Sarah & Mason DeWitt have four children in the household: Lizzie 15, Warren W. 12, Eva 10, & George B. 7.
