    In 1920 Dennis is age 20, boarding with the Bray family in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., TN. He is working as a knitter in a hosiery mill.

    In the 1900 Federal Census, the family is living at Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA: Walter S. 41, Ida 39, Nina 9, Estella 7, Curtis 3, & Dennis 9 mos.; and sister-in-law Annie Thetford, 25 GA.

    In 1910 they are at Bozeman, Muscogee Co., GA. Ida is no longer with them. The household includes Walter 50 or 51, Nina 18, Estelle 16, Curtis 13, and Dennis 10 (all surname Remington), and sister-in-law Annie Thetford 33.

    In 1920 Walter is widowed and living at Columbus, GA, with his two daughters, Nina & Estella, 29 & 26, both single.

    Walter married Ida P. Thetford 22 Dec 1881, Muscogee Co., GA. Ida was born Dec 1860, GA; died 16 Feb 1902, Columbus, GA; was buried , Double Springs, Harris Co., GA. [Group Sheet]

    From the Columbus, Georgia, Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Tuesday, 18 FEB 1902, p. 2, column 2:

    "Death of Mrs. Ida P. REMINGTON

    "Mrs. Ida P. REMINGTON, wife of Mr. Walter S. REMINGTON, died at their residence, No. 2134 Tenth Avenue, at 3:20 o'clock Sunday afternoon after an illness of about twelve months. Besides her husband, she is survived by two brothers, Mr. W. F. THETFORD of San Antonio, Texas, and Mr. A. J. THETFORD of Columbus. Two sisters, Mrs. J. A. CARDWELL and Miss Annie THETFORD, of this city, also survive her. Mrs. REMINGTON was a member of the Rose Hill Methodist Church and had many friends who are greatly saddened at her death. The funeral occurred at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Thomas THOMPSON. The interment will occur at Double Springs, nineteen miles north of the city, at 11 o'clock this morning."

    In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Emily are living at Blackstone, Worcester Co., MA. They have one son, William P., 3.

    In the 1860 Federal census, William & Emily are ages 44 & 43, living at Burrillville, Providence Co., RI. With them are William J. (P?) Remington 13, and Walter S. Remington, 1.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, William & Emily are ages 54 & 53, still living at Burrillville. William P. is 23 and Walter S. is 11. They are next door to Eddy & Emily Keach. Possibly Eddy is a brother of Emily Remington. This needs more research.

    Some additional information on the children of William & Emily and their future generations was kindly provided by Michael Edward Remington, a descendant, as footnoted hereafter.

    John's death record at Blackstone, MA, names his parents as Benedict and Ruth Remington.

    In the 1830 Federal Census, John was residing at Mendon, Worcester County, MA.

    In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is at Blackstone, Worcester Co., MA. In the household are John 56, Hannah 57, Ann C. 33, Ruth 30, Eunice S. 26, Mary C. 23, & John Jr. 18. All of the children were born in MA, as was their father. Also living there is Horace Parmenter, 27 CT. Is he a relative?

    In 1860 they are still at Blackstone. The family group consists of the following: John 67, Hannah 68, Mary 34, Mason DeWitt (Mason D. White) 45, Sarah (his wife) 32, and their three young children -- Lizzie 5, Mason W. 2, & Evaline 6 mos.

    John married Hannah S. Remington 3 Apr 1815, Mendon, MA. Hannah (daughter of Tiddeman H. Remington and Elizabeth Sheffield) was born 14 Jan 1792, Jamestown, RI; died 27 Dec 1875, Blackstone, MA. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    According to her death record, Hannah died at age 83 y 11 m 17 d, cause of death was "old age." It ways she was a widow, died in Blackstone, and was born in Jamestown, RI. Her parents are given as Tideman & Elizabeth Remington. In the 1870 Federal Census, Hannah Remington is age 78, widowed, and living at Blackstone, MA, with her daughter Sarah and family. Sarah & Mason DeWitt have four children in the household: Lizzie 15, Warren W. 12, Eva 10, & George B. 7.
