    Notes:

    In the 1900 Federal Census, the family is living at Essex, Chittenden Co., VT. Orvis & Edna have six children living with them, as well as Orvis's father, Loyal. In 1910 they are still there, with three children as well as Orvis's father.

    In the 1920 Federal Census, Orvis J. & Edna Remington are still living at Essex, Chittenden Co., VT. Their son Hazen is with them.

    Orvis married Edna J. Goodrich Abt 1881. Edna (daughter of Julius F. Goodrich and Lura A. Prior) was born Sep 1862, VT; died Aft 1 Jun 1930. [Group Sheet]

    In 1850, Loyal is age 19, a laborer living in Starksborough, Addison Co., VT. He is also listed again in the same town with his parents and siblings as age 18 (my assumption that this is the same individual). In 1860 he is married to Sarah, and they are living in Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT. In 1870 they are at Williston, Chittenden Co., VT; their children Orvis 9, & Martha 8, are in the home. In 1880 they are living in Westford, Chittenden Co., VT. Their children are Orvis 19, Martha 11, & Fred 4.

    In the 1900 Federal Census, Loyal Remington is age 69 and widowed, living at Essex, Chittenden Co., VT, with his son Orvis and family. In 1910 he is still there, age 81.

    Loyal was in the Civil War, enlisting at Essex, VT, as a Private in the Vermont 2nd Infantry, 1861 - 1862.

    Loyal married Sarah A. Nichols 10 Feb 1859, Essex, Chittenden Co., VT. Sarah was born Between 1834 and 1835, VT; died Aft 1 Jun 1880. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    Joel appears to be in the 1830 Federal Census at Huntington, Chittenden, VT, with a wife and young daughter, age 5 - 10. He is living in the same town as his brothers Jeremiah and Stephen.

    Another genealogy has his date of death as 28 Dec 1832.

    One family tree has a daughter Emily born in 1826, but there is only one daughter found in the 1830 census.

    Joel married Martha "Patty" Sayles Abt 1824. Martha (daughter of Ezekiel Sayles, Jr. and Martha Ross) was born 10 Aug 1801, VT; died 24 Mar 1868, VT. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census she is Patty Remington; in 1860 she is Martha Remington. Patty was the common nickname for Martha years ago.
