    Notes:

    He might be the James A. Remington b1886 whose grave is in Newkirk IOOF Cemetery, Kay Co., OK, with wife Flossie M. 1889 - 1962. If Albert J. is James Albert, he must have married sometime after the 1 Jan 1920 census.

    Notes:

    In the 1900 Federal Census, Isaac S. & Maria L Remington are living at Newkirk, Kay County, Oklahoma Territory. They have six children; according to the census data they also had two children who died.

    In the 1910 Federal Census, Isaac S. & Eliza M. Remington are still at Newkirk, OK. Three of their children are in the household: Albert, Florence, & Liddia.

    In the 1920 Federal Census, Isaac & Louisa Remington are still at Newkirk, Jay Co., OK. With them are Albert 34, Florence 25, and Lydia 22.

    Isaac married Louisa Maria Unknown Abt 1880. Louisa was born Abt Aug 1857, IL; died Between Jan and Dec 1920; was buried , Newkirk IOOF Cemetery, Kay Co., OK. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In 1900 she is Maria L.; in 1910 she is Eliza M. The age and state of birth are consistent, so I have assumed she is the same wife.

    In the 1920 census her name appears to be Louisa. The gravestone says Louisa M. and has her year of birth as 1858.

    Hannah and her children appear to be listed twice in the 1870 census at Raccoon, Parke Co., IN -- once on 31 Aug and again on 1 Sept.

  1. 8.  Peter Gardner Remington was born 13 Dec 1791, Jamestown, Newport Co., RI (son of John Remington and Phebe R. Carr); died 12 Jan 1846, Bridgeton, Parke Co., IN.

    Notes:

    Peter moved westward and first settled in New Castle, Ohio. "He taught one term of school, and had mathematical ability" (source: Remington manuscript).

    I have discovered what I believe to be his family in the 1850 census, so I am placing them here based on my assumption and data from various censuses which supports this assumption. See notes for Susanna.

    Further research has confirmed that this indeed is Peter's family, based on DAR membership #750866.

    Peter married Susanna L. Ames 27 Mar 1817. Susanna was born 7 Oct 1796, PA; died 1880, Bridgeton, Parke Co., IN. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Susanna Remington is age 53, widowed, and living in District 85, Parke Co., IN. In the household with her are ten Remington individuals, presumably her children, although Hannah Remington (age 2 or 20?) may be a daughter-in-law. Also next door, or with her, is son Elisha and his new wife Samantha.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, Susan Remington is age 74, living at Raccoon, Parke Co., IN, with her son John, 50.
