James married Mary Brown 15 Jun 1797, West Greenwich, Kent Co., RI. Mary (daughter of Nicholas Brown, Jr. and Comfort Langford) was born 24 Feb 1776, West Greenwich, Kent Co., RI; died 5 Apr 1812; was buried , James Greene Lot, Fry Pond Rd., West Greenwich, RI. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

I am not absolutely sure that these two marriages belong to the same Nicholas Brown, Jr., but the location and time frame fit. This needs more research to confirm.

However, the following data should be considered:

BROWN NICHOLAS 1744c - 20 JUL 1830 WG090 (source: RI Cemetery Database)

The will of Nicholas Brown, of West Greenwich, yeoman, is dated 26 Dec 1826 and proved 28 Aug 1830. It mentions his wife Elizabeth; son Nicholas; and grandchildren, children of son Nicholas: Nicholas, Edvna (?), and Almida.

The date of the will indicates that it belongs to the Nicholas listed in the cemetery data; this is the husband of Elizabeth. He also could have married Comfort first, although there is no proof that this is the same individual, other than the same location and time frame.

Nicholas married Comfort Langford 18 Aug 1768, West Greenwich, Kent Co., RI. Comfort (daughter of Thomas Langford) was born Abt 1746; died Aft 24 Feb 1776; was buried , Nicholas Brown Lot, Weaver Hill Rd., West Greenwich, RI. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

Nicholas and Comfort were married by George Dyer, Justice. The marriage record identifies Nicholas as Nicholas Brown, Jr., s/o Nicholas, of West Greenwich. Comfort is identifed as d/o Thomas Langford, of New York.
