Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census, Thaddeus B. Remington is age 31, living with his (probably widowed) father and siblings in Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY.

In 1860, T. B. Remington is age 41 and his wife H. Maria is 36. They are still at Canandaigua. They have two daughters, Alice & Lydia.

The 1865 census index for Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY, lists in household #95: Thaddeus B., Alice C., Bradford M., & Lydia M. Remington.

In 1870 he is age 50, and is living there with his wife, Anna, and three children -- Alice, Lydia, & Bradford. His father, age 76, is in the household, also.

In 1880 the family is still together at Canandaigua, except for Bradford. H. Maria is listed as Hannah.

Thaddeus married Hannah Maria Unknown Abt 1852. Hannah was born Abt 1820, NJ; died Aft 1 Jun 1880. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census, Thaddeus is age 55, and living in Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY. In the household are (assumed) sons Thaddeus B., Thomas A., Martin, and Chauncey, and (assumed) daughter Eunice, plus two other individuals. In 1870 Thaddeus is age 76, still living in Canandaigua, with son Thaddeus B. and his family.

Thaddeus married Rhoda Root 10 Feb 1818, Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY. Rhoda was born Abt 1799, West Stockbridge, Berkshire County, MA; died Bef 1 Jun 1850. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

Note at Rootsweb from descendant Margaret Fish: "I descend from Col. Thaddeus Remington of C'd'g'a, through son Thad Jr., and his daughter Mary. And finally, after 9 years, found a book which verifies he was married in Granby, Conn. (near Suffield) to Betsy Root (some NY books said Nelson) on Jan. 28, 1793. He died 19 Sept. 1838 and Betsy died 24 Dec. 1855."

"Overlooking Centerfield was the home of Colonel Thaddeus Remington, the maternal grandparent, who had given his own name to the hill upon which he had built his log-house in 1798. Colonel Remington was the eldest of three brothers who came from Vermont, where the traditions of the family run back until they are lost to record. By his solicitations two younger brothers, who had come from Vermont to Connecticut, were induced to come west to make a settlement, and one of them selected Henrietta and the other Mumford, in Monroe county." Thaddeus married Betsy Root or Nelson 28 Jan 1793, Granby, CT. Betsy was born Abt 1770, CT; died 24 Dec 1855, Centerfield, Ontario Co., NY. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census, Betsey Remington is age 77, born in CT, and is living at Canandaigua, Ontario, NY, with John & Sophia Fosket/Foskett. Possibly Sophia is her daughter (needs more research).

The death notice said she died at age 81.
