In the Federal Census of 1900, Walter E. & Hannah Remington, ages 43 & 41, are living at Neola, Pottawattamie Co., IA. They have three children in the household.

In 1910 Hannah is still living there as a widow.

Walter married Hannah Unknown Abt 1880. Hannah was born Oct 1858, UT; died Aft 15 Apr 1910. [Group Sheet]

In the Federal Census of 1910, Hannah is a widow, 51, living at Neola, Pottawattamie Co., IA. Paul & Shirley are still with her.

Note: the ancestral line of Zeri has not yet been proven -- see accompanying notes for his parents, Stephen & Rebeckah, and grandfather, John.

In the 1850 Federal Census, Zeri & Eliza are living at Pittsburgh, PA, and with them are their three oldest children. Also in the household is Martha Remington, age 65, b. Vermont. This is probably Zeri's stepmother, who is also his aunt. In the 1860 Federal Census the family is living at Boomer, Pottawattamie Co., IA. Martha is still with them, age 75.

From the Rootsweb message board, surname Remington: Not sure where Zeri was buried but his first two wives are in Allegheny Cemetery in the same lot with Zeri's father, Stephen (from R. Schroder).

Zeri married Eliza Lewis Norton Jul 1844, Pittsburgh, PA. Eliza was born Between 1816 and 1820, Germantown, PA; died Aft 4 Jul 1856. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

Some genealogies have this Stephen as a son of John b.1770, brother of Eliphalet. However, if this Stephen was really born in 1780, that particular John could not have been his father (needs more research). Also, if he really was born in Ilion, NY, do we know that John & Mary (of RI) were living there?

The cemetery record states that Stephen was born in Washington County, NY. The family of David Remington was living there around the time of Stephen's birth. Could it be that he is their son, and not a son of John? Unfortunately, Boyd Scott Remington did not cite his sources or explain his reasoning.

According to descendant Ann Thompson, Stephen bought land in what is now downtown Pittsburgh, PA. This land, the site of Fort Fayette, was being sold by the federal government, so the deed is signed by President James Madison and Secretary of State James Monroe. Later Stephen & Martha sold this land and the house on it to son Zeri for $1.00.

Stephen married Rebeckah Watson 1804. Rebeckah (daughter of Alexander Watson and Persis Unknown) was born Abt 1782. [Group Sheet]

Note: This couple may be misplaced on the tree -- this is in process of research. Stephen may be a son of John b.1757 in Scituate, RI; some genealogies have him as a son of John b.1770. However, if this is the case, Stephen couldn't have been born in 1780. His wife was probably Rebeckah Watson; they had a son Zeri Watson Remington (see Boyd Scott Remington's chart -- needs more research to confirm).
