  1. 2.  Charles Stone was born 1804, Cranston, RI; died 10 Sep 1875, RI; was buried , Greenwood Cemetery, Fairview Ave., Coventry, RI.

    Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census, Charles, 50, & Caroline, 45, are living at Scituate, RI. With them are Sylvester, 30, & Harriet, 22, as well as Woon (?) Brown, 25, & Fenner Kent, 21.

In the 1860 Federal Census, Charles & Caroline, ages 60 & 61, are still living at Scituate, RI. Jabez Colvin, age 47, is with them.

In 1870, Charles & Caroline Stone, ages 70 & 71, are still at Scituate. With them is Jabez Colvin, 57.

I think Jabez may be first cousin to Caroline (needs more research to confirm).

Charles married Caroline Remington Abt 1824. Caroline (daughter of Russell Remington and Lucy Unknown) was born Abt 1799, Scituate, RI; died 7 Jul 1872, Coventry, RI; was buried , Greenwood Cemetery, Fairview Ave., Coventry, RI. [Group Sheet]

At least one person has Abby (Remington) Vose as a daughter of this couple; she was born c 12 Feb 1809. This needs more research to confirm.

Russell married Lucy Unknown Abt 1793. Lucy was born Abt 1776; died Bef 1811. [Group Sheet]

Generation: 4

  1. 12.  Jonathan Remington was born 28 Dec 1743, RI (son of Thomas Remington, Sr. and Mary Collins); died Aft 6 Aug 1810, Scituate, RI.

    Notes:

Scituate Land Evidence Vol. 8 p. 39 records a transaction in which Jonathan Remington received a deed on 11 April 1785 from Christopher and Wait Lippitt. Probably it refers to this Jonathan. Since his great-grandmother was Martha Lippitt, probably Christopher was a relative.

The following may pertain to this Jonathan:

In the 1800 Federal Census, he is listed at Scituate as Jonathan Remmington (same page as Joseph Remington), with a household as follows: 1 FWM 45+, 2 FWF <10, 1 FWF 10-15, 1 FWF 26-44, and 1 FWF 45+.

In 1810 he is listed at Scituate as Johnathan Remington, but the household consists of just an adult male and an adult female.

On 20 March 1776, Elisha & Desire Clark of North Kingstown purchased land in Exeter from Jonathan Remington of Warwick, yeoman. Was it this Jonathan? If so, he would have been about 33. But see other Jonathan Remingtons on this tree.

Boyd Scott Remington shows two marriages for him, so I am entering them, although no sources are noted (needs further research).

Jonathan married Mary Havens 15 Jun 1769, Warwick, RI. Mary (daughter of Nathaniel Havens) was born Abt 1747, RI; died Aft 6 Aug 1810, Scituate, RI. [Group Sheet]

  2. 13.  Mary Havens was born Abt 1747, RI (daughter of Nathaniel Havens); died Aft 6 Aug 1810, Scituate, RI.

    Notes:

Mary was "of Nathaniel, of North Kingstown."

I have made an assumption that she is the wife implied in the 1800 and 1810 censuses.

    Notes:

1769 Remington, Jonathan, of Warwick, and Mary Havens, of Nathaniel, of North Kingstown; m. by Eld. Charles Holden, June 15, 1769. Vol. 2 p. 152, Marriage Warwick
