Information on Caroline's husband came from T. Dowling's family tree at Rootsweb's Worldconnect. According to the data there, Van & Caroline had 7 children; 4 died young.

The above-mentioned tree also gives Van's parents as Fletcher Johnston Barron of Orange Co., VT; and Mary Horton of Providence, RI.

My notes:

In the Federal Census of 1860, V. B. Barron 25 and Caroline Barron 23 are living at Alma, Allegany Co., NY. They have an infant daughter, Mary J. 6 mo. They are near Caroline's married sister Aurelia Southmayd and husband; also brother Allen 43.

In the Federal Census of 1870, Van Barron 36 NH, Caroline Barron 34 NY, and their year-old twins Carrie & Cora are living at Eau Claire, WI. Also with them are: Nellie Wall or Nall 10 (b Norway, attends school), & Olice Corn 21 (domestic help).

In 1880 the family is still at Eau Claire: Van Buren Barron 46, Caroline 43, Carrie 11, Cora 11, & John 8. Van Buren is a lumberman.

Martin married Caroline A. Wightman 22 Jan 1859, NY. Caroline (daughter of Allen Wightman and Amanda V. Unknown) was born 26 Feb 1836, Allegany Co., NY; died 7 Apr 1918, Eau Claire Co., WI. [Group Sheet]
