    Notes:

    In the Federal Census of 1900, he may be the James Remington age 44 OH, widower, boarding at Bloomingdale, MI, with the Sidney Smith family. The census gives James's birth date as Feb 1856.

    In the Federal Census of 1920, James Remington, a widower age 65, is living at Bloomingdale, Van Buren Co., MI, near Merle and family and also near Charles & Anna. The census data shows his parents as born in OH/VT.

    I have made an assumption here that these two daughters, Bertha & Nellie Remington, belong to James (needs more research to confirm). In the 1900 census they are living as granddaughters with Cyrus & Sarah Remington, James's parents.

    Source for the following is Nanci Remington: "From Evelyn Chamberlain, Hendersonville, NC, May 2000: Chauncy Remington and his brother Cyrus are listed on the school roster of Baldwin Wallace College located at Berea, OH in 1845. Their place of residence is listed as Parma OH. [Baldwin-Wallace College was founded in 1845. It is a small, private, liberal arts college, affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Parma is about five miles south of Cleveland. Berea is about six miles west of Parma. - RLF]"

    My notes:

    In the Federal Census of 1860, Cyrus N. & Sarah A. Remington, ages 29 OH & 28 OH, are living at Bloomingdale, Van Buren Co., MI. They have four children: Frances 9 OH, James E. 7 OH, Ellen 3. MI, & William 1 MI. Cyrus is a carpenter. From the census information, it appears that Cyrus & Sarah and family moved from OH to MI between 1853 and 1857.

    In the Federal Census of 1870, the family is still at Bloomingdale: C. M. 40 MI, Sarah A. 39 VT, Frances A. 18 OH, James E. 15 OH, Ellen J. 12 MI, & William H. 10 MI. Cyrus is a house carpenter.

    In the Federal Census of 1880, the family is still at Bloomingdale: Cyrus 49, Sarah 48, James 25, & Ellen 23. Cyrus is a carpenter-joiner. They are living near married son William and family.

    In the Federal Census of 1900, Cyrus C. & Sarah Remington, ages 70 OH & 69 VT, are still living at Bloomingdale. With them are two granddaughters: Bertha 16 and Nellie 12. According to census data, Cyrus was born Sep 1829 and Sarah was born Nov 1830.

    Cyrus married Sarah Ann Shulte 15 Jan 1851, Cuyahoga Co., OH. Sarah (daughter of George Shulte and Mehitable Babcock) was born Between Nov 1830 and 1833, VT; died 1 Feb 1904, Bloomingdale, Van Buren Co., MI. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    I have roughly estimated Charles's year of birth.

    I have made an assumption that Anna is his wife and Ezekiel his son, based on a gravestone at [findagrave.com].

    In the Federal Census of 1840, Charles is listed as a family head at Parma, OH, next to E. Remington and household. Charles's household consists of the following: 1 male <5, 2 males 5<10, 2 males 10<15, 2 males 15<20, 1 male 30<40, and 1 female 30<40. The household next door, of E. Remington, consists of the following: 1 male 60<70, and 2 females 60<70.

    The names of four of Charles's sons were given to me by Nanci Remington, a descendant.

    Ezekiel lived in Simsbury, CT, and died in Ohio. In the 1850 Federal Census, Ezekiel is a farmer, age 77, living at Amherst, Lorain Co., OH, with Henry & Matilda and their two children.
