    Notes:

    In the Federal Census of 1910, Merle M. & Erma M. Remington, ages 26 & 25, are living at Bloomingdale, Van Buren Co., MI. They have three daughters: Shirley L 4., Edith A. 2, & Thelma L. 8/12 (all b MI). Merle is a farmer.

    In the Federal Census of 1920, the family is still at Bloomingdale: Merle 36, Irma 35, Shirley 13, Edith 11, Thelma 9, & Ethel 2.

    In 1930, Merle is living at Kalammazoo, Kalamazoo Co., MI. With him is daughter Ethel M. 13. They are living in the same town as Floyd, Otto, and other Remingtons.

    Merle married Erma Mae Corning 8 Oct 1903. Erma was born Abt 1885; died 1959. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the Federal Census of 1880, Charles & Anna Remington, ages 25 & 24, are living at Bloomingdale, Van Buren Co., MI. They have one child, Claud 3.

    In the Federal Census of 1900, Charles & Anna, ages 47 & 44, are still at Bloomingdale. In the household they have one son, Merle 16. They are near Edmund and Edwin and their families.

    In the Federal Census of 1910, Charles C. & Anna are ages 57 & 53, still at Bloomingdale. Son Claude E. 31 is with them.

    In 1920 they are all still together at Bloomingdale, living next to Merle Remington and family.

    In 1930 Charles, Anna, & Claude are still at Bloomingdale.

    The following two obituaries are from Nanci Remington:
    "BLOOMINGDALE-Charles Remington, 83, prominent pioneer resident of this community and member of the Masonic lodge 60 years, died Tuesday at his home three miles northeast of here. The oldest of four children in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Remington, he was born in Hillsdale June 17, 1852. While he was a child, his parents traveled in covered wagon to Iowa. Later the, family moved to this locality. Mr. Remington was married July 4, 1873, to Miss Ann Joy. He leaves his widow and two children, Claude, residing at home; Merle, Watervliet. He also leaves four grandchildren; his brother, Edwin, Bloomingdale, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Penfold and Mrs. Helen Shattuck. Mr. Remington was a life member of the Masonic lodge and charter member of the O. E. S. chapter. Services will be held under Masonic auspices in the Christian church at 2 Thursday, with the Rev. C. M. Pease officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove.

    "Funeral services will be held Saturday [today] at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church under the auspices of Bloomingdale Lodge F. and A. M. for Charles Remington, 83, who passed away at his house three miles north east of this village Thursday [Tuesday] morning. He was the oldest child of Charles E. and Esther Remington and was born in Hillsdale county, June 17, 1852. When a small child, he went with his parents by covered wagon to Iowa, where they resided about a year, returning to Michigan and settling near Bloomingdale where he has lived since. July 4, 1873, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Joy, whom, with two sons, Claude, living at home, and Merle of Watervliet, survive. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, also a brother, Edwin and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Penfield and Mrs Helen Shattuck, all of Bloomingdale. He had been a member of the local Masonic lodge over 60 years and a few years ago was made a life member of the order. He was also a charter member of Bloomingdale Chapter No. 158, O. E. S. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Pease and burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery in this village."

    "Anna Joy was born May 22, 1856, in Union City, Michigan, and passed away September 2, 1936, aged 80 years, 3 months and 11 days. On July 4, 1873, she was united in marriage with Charles Remington. They resided on the same farm in Bloomingdale township for the last sixty years. Mr. Remington passed away October 29, 1935. Mrs. Remington was a charter member of Bloomingdale Chapter Order of Eastern Stars and a member of the Bloomingdale Christian Church. She leaves two sons, Claude, who lives at home, and Merle, of Watervliet; one brother, Charles Joy, four grand-children, and nine great grand-children, a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends. Mrs. Remington was one of the oldest pioneers in this vicinity and was held in high regard by all who knew her."

    In the Federal Census of 1850, Edmund C. Remington, age 25, is living at Reading, Hillsdale Co., MI. The census says he is a carpenter born in MA, but if this is indeed Charles Edmund, that information is probably incorrect.

    In the Federal Census of 1900, Edmund and Ruth A. Remington, ages 75 & 61, are living at Bloomingdale Village, Van Buren Co., MI. With them is daughter Clare E. 35. They are next to Edwin and family.

    Charles married Esther Peck Aft 1 Jun 1850. Esther was born , OH or MI. [Group Sheet]
