    In the 1910 census, Winfield & Mary Ann are still at Richland, OH. They are living near Marcus and Sarah Remington.

    In the Federal Census of 1920, Winfield 66 is living at Union, Knox Co., OH. In the household is married daughter Blanche Critchfield and her family -- husband Walter, and two children, Bernice (?) and Royal.

    In the Federal Census of 1860, her name is listed as Amelia.

    In the 1880 Federal Census, "Alinear" or "Almear" Remington is age 50 and living in Richland, Holmes Co., OH. In the household are: Winfield 26 (sch teacher), Marqis W. 24, Caral 22 (? d-in-law), Hannah R. 21, Sarah M. 19, John W. 9, & Lilia A. 2. All are born in New York except the mother, Almera. However, it is puzzling that the census data says that the father of both Marqis & Lilia was born in Rhode Island. Is that an error? It must be, because Lillie is a daughter of Marcus & Sarah.

    She was probably the daughter of Hiram and Hannah Sayles, with whom she is living in the 1850 census at Knox, OH.

    Notes:

    Oliver M. Remington married Sarah and moved from Tiverton, RI, to Ohio about 1813/14, among the first settlers to live in New Castle, Coshocton County, OH. He was a school teacher, and later moved to Holmes County, c.1820/21. His brother Peter also moved to Ohio.

    In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is at Richland, Holmes, OH. Oliver is 62, Sarah is 57; sons John, Thomas, & Lyman are in the household.

    "One of the earliest schools in the township, in all probability the first, was held in the cabin that had been occupied by Isaac Butler, in the western part of the township. The children of the Butlers, Darlings and others attended here. In 1814 or 1815, it was taught by Oliver Remington, from Rhode Island, a well educated, intelligent man.
