    Notes:

    He is Joel in the earlier censuses with his parents, but in other records he is Joseph W. Remington. The marriage record identifies his parents as Orsin Remington and Eliza Ham.

    He was likely named after his uncle Joel Ham. His bravestgone has his name as Joel W. Remington.

    Possibly he was called Joe and census takers and other record-keepers wrote down Joseph?

    In 1900, the family is at West Jersey, Stark Co., IL; according to census data Joseph and Ella have been married 10 years.

    In 1910 Joseph and Ella are living in Toulon, Stark Co., IL; married daughter Addie Ogburn and her husband Clarence are with them. Daughter Mabel Wilson and her husband Edward are next door, and they have a son Joel.

    Joseph married Ella Jones 12 Feb 1890, Pike, IL. Ella (daughter of Casel Jones and Maggie Bell) was born 28 Jan 1867; died 23 Feb 1935; was buried , Toulon Cemetery, Stark Co., IL. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the 1860 Federal Census, "P. Remington," age 30, and his wife "Emily," age 23, are living at Chambersburg, Pike Co., IL. They are near her parents, her brother Joel, and his wife Mary and children. Joel & Mary Ham have named a son Orson, and Orson & Eliza have named a son Joel and a daughter Emily. In 1870 "Oscar" & Eliza are still at Chambersburg, IL. They have three children: Emily, Joel, & Angeline. In 1880 Orson S. & "Nancy" are at Perry, Pike Co., IL. They have two children: Charles & Mary. Nancy may be a nickname for Eliza. I am making an assumption she is the same wife because the census has her parents' birthplace as Tennessee; census data shows her mother was born there, although her father was born in SC.

    Notes:

    Anthony & Wealtha migrated from Ohio to Pike Co., Illinois, in 1835 (according to Wealtha's obituary). They stayed there, on the upland between the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, for fifteen years. In 1850 they settled in Stark Co., Illinois. For one year they lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, but then they returned to Illinois.

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Anthony & Weltha are living in Stark Co., IL, with their 8 children. In the 1860 Federal Census, the family is living at Clover, Henry Co., IL, with six children.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, Ant & Wealthy A. Remington, ages 62 & 59, are living at Essex, Stark Co., IL. With them are Hervey 26, Adaline 19, & Jeannette 14. Next door is son Alpheus and family.

    In 1880, Anthony & Wealthy A. Remington at West Jersey, Stark Co., IL, with their daughter Sarah Ham, her husband John, and their five children. Also in the household is a niece, Wealthy A. Remington, age 19. However, it seems to me that she must be the daughter of Alpheus, meaning that she is really Sarah's niece.

    According to Wealtha's obituary, she and Anthony had 15 children.

    Anthony married Wealtha Ann Aldridge 12 Mar 1829, Trumbull County, OH. Wealtha was born 5 Jan 1811, Southwick, Hampden Co., MA; died 22 Jun 1895, Toulon, IL; was buried , Toulon Cemetery, Stark Co., IL. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    Wealtha moved from Massachusetts to Fowler, Ohio, with her parents when she was age 5.

    She may have been a granddaughter of Stephen Aldrich & Jerusha Bartlett, who owned a farm in Southwick, MA. According to a family tree at Rootsweb's Worldconnect, they had a son named Laban, born c1784. The 1820 Federal Census lists a Laban Aldridge in Fowler, OH.
