Generation: 1

    Notes:

Zillah was adopted (see gravestone at Bristol).

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Nathaniel Munday was born Abt 1818, RI (son of George Munday and Ann Unknown); died 27 Jan 1887, Livingston, NJ; was buried , North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI.

    Notes:

He may be the Nathaniel Munday listed in the New Bedford City Directory of 1836 as a tailor.

In the 1860 census, Nathaniel is in Hoboken, Hudson Co., NJ: Nathanial Munday 42 RI engraver, Mary H. Munday 45 RI, Henry B. Baird 21 MA, George W. Whittaker 20 MA engraver (in 1850 with Nathaniel's father in Fall River), John B. Danley 19 PA, George F. Munday 3 (b. England), Margaret Cohen 20 Ireland, John G. Drew 37 MA, Phoebe Drew 36 MA, Charles L. Drew 6 NJ, Anna G. Drew 2 mos. NJ.

In the 1865 NJ Census, they are at Elizabeth, Union, NJ: Nathaniel, Mary, and Fred; also John G. and Phebe Drew -- I don't see their child.

In 1870 Nathaniel and Mary are in Elizabeth, Union, NJ; Nathaniel is still an engraver. I don't see that a young George is with them, but there is a 14-yr-old (b. England) who appears to L. Fredrick (?); also Louisa Turner, a domestic. George Whitaker, engraver, is next door or with them. He is married to Sarah and they have a young daughter, Lizzie.

In 1880, Nathaniel and Mary are in Livingston, Essex, NJ. His occupation is now farmer. The death record there in 1887 says he had lived there 32 years.

Their gravestone at Bristol says they adopted two children -- Fred and Zillah.

Nathaniel married Mary Harvey Batt 3 Jun 1843, Fall River, Bristol Co., MA. Mary (daughter of James Batt and Hannah Valdron) was born 13 Jul 1820, Bristol, RI; died 1 May 1908, Bristol, RI; was buried , North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI. [Group Sheet]

  2. 3.  Mary Harvey Batt was born 13 Jul 1820, Bristol, RI (daughter of James Batt and Hannah Valdron); died 1 May 1908, Bristol, RI; was buried , North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI.
    Children:
    1. George Frederick Munday was born Abt 1857, England.
    2. 1. Zillah Munday

Generation: 3

  1. 4.  George Munday was born 18 Mar 1799, North Kingstown, RI (son of Nathaniel Munday and Elizabeth Ann Unknown); died 26 May 1855, Fall River, MA.

    Notes:

Nathaniel Monday son of George was baptized as an "adult" at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wickford on 18 July 1819. It does not say how old he was. The church records also mention Captain George Monday and his wife Ann (baptized 1821), and daughters Elizabeth, Hannah, and Phebe, all baptized 2 Jan 1825. Ludowick and Daniel Updike were associated with this church in 1809.

George Munday and family are in the 1820 census at North Kingstown, RI. The family has 4 individuals: one male age 26-44, one female age 26-44, one male child under age 10, and one female child under age 10.

In 1840, George Munday and family are in Fall River, MA.

In the 1850 Census, they are still in Fall River: George Munday 60 (Nova Scotia?), Anna 59 RI, Hannah B. 27 RI, Phebe T. 26 RI, Lucy P. 21 RI; and George W. Whitaker 10 MA. George Munday is a clerk. His birthplace is not correct -- see his birth record in RI and death record in MA.

The death record at Fall River says he died at age 65 of lung fever. It gives his birthplace as RI, and names his parents as Nathaniel and Elizabeth, which agrees with his birth record.

George married Ann Unknown Abt 1818. Ann was born Abt 1791; died Aft 1850. [Group Sheet]

  2. 5.  Ann Unknown was born Abt 1791; died Aft 1850.
    Children:
    1. 2. Nathaniel Munday was born Abt 1818, RI; died 27 Jan 1887, Livingston, NJ; was buried , North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI.
    2. Elizabeth Munday was born Abt 1821.
    3. Hannah B. Munday was born Abt 1823.
    4. Phebe Tisdale Munday was born 16 Jul 1824, North Kingstown, RI; died 1 Sep 1914, Providence, RI.
    5. Lucy P. Munday was born Abt 1829.

  3. 6.  James Batt

James — Hannah Valdron. [Group Sheet]

  4. 7.  Hannah Valdron
    Children:
    1. 3. Mary Harvey Batt was born 13 Jul 1820, Bristol, RI; died 1 May 1908, Bristol, RI; was buried , North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI.

Generation: 4

  1. 8.  Nathaniel Munday was born 26 Nov 1755, Stamford, CT (son of William Munday and Hannah King); died 2 Jan 1827, Wickford, North Kingstown, RI; was buried , Old Church Graveyard, Wickford, RI.

    Notes:

In the 1810 census, Nathaniel is listed as a head of household in North Kingstown, RI.

In the 1820 census, Nathaniel is listed again as a head of household in North Kingstown, RI. The household consists of three free white males -- one age 16-18, one age 16-25, and one age 45+ (who I assume is Nathaniel).

Also in the same census and same town is George Munday (age 25-44) with a wife and two children under age 10, one male and one female.

I found two references to a Nathaniel Munday of North Kingstown as follows. In an estate document for James Church, a letter of Administration was given to Nathaniel Munday, merchant, of NK, dated 7 March 1808; also Nathanial Munday of NK, yeoman, was mentioned in a deed of William Gardner of Exeter, dated 1 Aug 1812. These two documents may refer to the same individual.

He died in Wickford 2 January 1827, age 72 (Newport Mercury 6 January 1827 and lost gravestone). "Capt. Nathaniel MUNDAY died Jan 2, 1827 aged 72 years."

Nathaniel married Elizabeth Ann Unknown Bef 1799. Elizabeth was born Abt 1770; died Aft Mar 1799, RI. [Group Sheet]

  2. 9.  Elizabeth Ann Unknown was born Abt 1770; died Aft Mar 1799, RI.

    Notes:

Elizabeth Munday is mentioned in the birth and death records of her son George. I have made an assumption that she is the first wife of this particular Nathaniel, based on location and time frame.

I have roughly estimated her birth year.

    Children:
    1. 4. George Munday was born 18 Mar 1799, North Kingstown, RI; died 26 May 1855, Fall River, MA.
