Notes:

According to the obituary, Chandler served in the US Air Force and later served in the VA hospital in Biloxi.

I corresponded with him many times and shared information and photos for our family tree. Very sorry I never had the opportunity to meet him in person.

Chandler married Rosemary Joanne Northway 13 Apr 1963, Tucson, AZ. Rosemary was born 20 Aug 1942, AZ; died 18 Feb 2015, Biloxi, Harrison, MS; was buried , Bilopxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS. [Group Sheet]

James married Rosa Alexandria Smith 9 Apr 1927, Jacksonville, FL. Rosa (daughter of Chandler Holmes Smith, Jr. and Marie Vann Dial) was born 21 Oct 1904, Madison, FL; died 3 Jan 1981, Gulfport, MS; was buried , Oak Ridge Cemetery, Madison, FL. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

"Dr. Smith, a physician, received his early education in Madison, FL. When it was demonstrated he was an exceptional student he was sent to the Bingham School in North Carolina, the University of Florida (I understand he was a founding member of the ATO fraternity there but I have not seen evidence of that), Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, and post-graduate medical education in Berlin, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. He returned to Madison, FL, to practice medicine. He married Marie Vann Dial on November 21, 1895. Marie and Chandler had eight children who survived one of whom was Rosa Alexandria Smith, my mother. Dr. Smith died August 17, 1918. He was the city of Madison's first automobile fatality. Suffering from chronic hearing loss he did not hear or see the car driven by a young and inexperienced female who hit him as he attempted to walk across the street." In the Federal Census of 1910, the family is living at Madison, FL.
