    Mary married Philip Manchester, Sr. Abt Oct 1777, Tiverton, RI. Philip (son of Peleg Manchester and Margaret Coggeshall) was born 12 May 1755, Tiverton, RI; died 12 Oct 1835, Westport, MA; was buried , Little Compton, RI. [Group Sheet]

    From "Little Compton Families" by Benjamin Franklin Wilbour, published 1967 by Little Compton Historical Society, p. 203:
    "John Coggeshall of Tiverton, son of John & Jane (Birrell) Coggeshall of Newport, was married 8 Dec 1739 at Tiverton by Philip Tabor, Justice, to Amey Dwelley, daughter of Joshua & Elizabeth (Round) Dwelley, of Tiverton. He was, without doubt, descended from the first John of Newport."

    The book entitled "The Coggshalls in America" says John was "of Newport," but does not identify his parents, probably because this information is unknown. Was he related to the other John Coggeshall who signed the Portsmouth Compact in 1639? It seems likely.
