I am not sure that Samuel is a son of Samuel, but I am including him here because of his date of birth, and because he has a son named Caleb. (needs more research to confirm)

Samuel married Mary Greene Abt 1718. Mary (daughter of Peter Greene and Elizabeth Slocum) was born 6 Apr 1697, Warwick, Kent County, RI; died 1745. [Group Sheet]

Mary Carr's will of 1745 mentions her two sisters, four sons, and two grandsons. She is said to be the widow of Samuel Carr.

Peter was admitted freeman of Warwick on 30 April 1687. He drowned at Pawtucket Falls in 1708.

Peter married Elizabeth Slocum 12 Feb 1695/96, Warwick, RI. Elizabeth (daughter of Ebenezer SLOCUM and Mary THURSTON) was born 1 Jan 1677/78, Jamestown, RI; died 5 Jun 1728. [Group Sheet]

Caleb came to America as an 11-year-old with his brother, Robert, on the ship "Elizabeth & Ann" in 1635. They eventually settled in the area of Portsmouth and Newport, RI. Caleb was governor of the colony of RI, and it was during his tenure that he died by drowning.

Alden G. Beaman gives his date of birth as 9 Dec 1616 (London), but this does not agree with his age given on the ship's roster, 11.

His will was proved 6 Jan 1696 in Jamestown.

James was the great-grandfather of General Nathanael Greene, second in command to General George Washington during the Revolution. General Nathanael Greene's birthplace was the Greene homestead at Potowomut, Warwick, RI. Sometimes referred to as James Greene "of Potowomut," he was made freeman of Warwick and Providence Plantations in 1647. He served as Town Clerk in 1661, and was described as "as excellent penman of the old English text" ("The Greenes of Rhode Island," p. 64). Under Rhode Island's first charter, he served as Commissioner, or member of the General Assembly. Under the second charter (1663), he served as Deputy Assistant for ten years, until about 1675. His house, along with all in Warwick except one, was burned down by Indians in the Spring of 1675/76 during King Philip's War. Being warned in advance, he had fled to Portsmouth where his father-in-law, John Anthony, lived. It was some time after this, about 1684, that he located at Potowomut, where he built a house by a river which provided power for a forge which was used by his sons and grandsons to do iron work, such as making anchors. Elizabeth Greene is mentioned as the wife of James Greene in her father's will.

Ebenezer & Mary settled in Jamestown, RI, where he was prominent in public office. He was chosen deputy to the General Assembly in 1679, a position which he held until his death in 1715. At times he was the Speaker of the Assembly. He belonged to the society of Friends, and was referred to as "a valuable minister."

The Jamestown Proprietors Records show that Ebenezer was chosen to be one of the Town Council ("Counsell"), and was chosen Moderator of meetings of the Proprietors and Freemen several times: 1682, 1683, 1684, 1685, 1697, 1699, and 1704. He was Head Warden in 1701.

Ebenezer married Mary THURSTON Abt 1676. Mary (daughter of Edward THURSTON and Elizabeth MOTT) was born Feb 1656/57, Newport, RI; died 16 Nov 1732, Jamestown, RI. [Group Sheet]

Her will was dated 5 Nov 1729, and proved Nov 1732. In addition to the family members listed, the spouses and children of two other daughters (names not given) are mentioned: son-in-law William Burling, and his children William, Rebecca, Benjamin, Hannah, Sarah, Ebenezer, and Amy; also, Thomas Rogers, another son-in-law, and his son Thomas Rogers.
