Obituary:
Robert J. Marcotte, 80, of Maple Valley Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Meredith (Matteson) Marcotte with whom he celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 27, 2015.
Born in Coventry, a son of the late Leslie J. and Dorothy E. (Remington) Marcotte, he was a direct descendent of Roger Williams and had lived all of his life in Coventry. He served in the United States Navy and in the United States Army.
Bob was self-employed and the owner of M&M Feed & Supply in Coventry. In later years he was in the trucking business. He enjoyed tending to his garden and NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Glenn R. Marcotte & his wife Amy of Foster and Jeffrey M. Marcotte & his wife Julie of Woodstock Valley, CT; one sister: Gail Breene Delmonico of West Greenwich and Jamestown; two brothers: Thomas L. Marcotte and William F. Marcotte both of Coventry and he was the proud grandfather of Pamela, Megan, Jaden, Justin & Jillian.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10 AM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Burial with military honors will be in Plainland Cemetery, Coventry.

In the 1930 Federal Census, the family is living on Maple Ave., in Coventry, RI. According to the census data, William's father was born in Canada and his mother was born in Rhode Island. William's occupation is a painter of buildings.

William married Florence G. Sprague Abt 1915. Florence (daughter of William Ellery Sprague and Lenora Frances Hopkins) was born 14 Jul 1896, Coventry, Kent Co., RI; died 5 May 1983, Coventry, Kent Co., RI; was buried , Woodland Cemetery, Washington & Knotty Oak Sts., Coventry, RI. [Group Sheet]

Florence's birth record is not in the Coventry town records. The birth record for sister Olive is also omitted. The record for Bertha was not added until 1943. However, I have made an assumption that these three sisters were born in Coventry, as were their older siblings.

Florence's death record at Coventry identifies her parents as William & Lenora.

In the Federal Census of 1910, Florence is age 13, living with her mother and two sisters in Coventry. It just so happens that they are living next door to Oscar & Anna Andrews, Aunt Velna's parents.

In the Federal Census of 1900, Edith Wright, b Oct 1894, is age 5 (boarder, at school), living in Coventry, RI, with Jerome & Mary Laselle.

This couple is Jerome Laselle (sometimes Lasalle) born c 1856, who md Mary Randall Lindoll 1 June 1891 in Providence (familysearch.org).

In the Federal census of 1910, Edith Wright is age 16 "daughter," living in Coventy with Mary Lasalle 52 and Lydia Harvey 73 (boarder).

Edith Mae Remington died at age 57 y 6 m 12 d.
