    Notes:

    I am making an assumption here, that Samuel belongs to this couple. He had a son named Asa, whom he possibly named after his father. However, he is not listed in the Gov. John Cranston genealogy.

    I also am assuming that he is the Samuel T. Bates in the RI Cemetery Database (middle initial similar), with dates c.1801-11 Aug 1838. His wife Roby may have remarried after he died, as I can't find her grave listed in the database.

    Samuel married Roby W. Straight Abt 1822. Roby was born Abt 1802. [Group Sheet]

    Her name is sometimes spelled as Asa or Asie. She is mentioned in the 1869 will of her sister Ruth Hall, who identifies her as the wife of Samuel Kettle/Kettelle. Asia died at Carrs Pond Rd., W. Greenwich, RI.

    I think her middle initial may have stood for Bradford.
