    Notes:

    I had the privilege of meeting Bev (Howard) Winsor in June 2002, when her brother Warren was visiting from California. We all got together at Chelo's in Smithfield to meet each other and discuss our family connections, of which there are many.

    It turns out that my dad Norman went to school with Bev's brother-in-law, Ralph Winsor. For years the Winsor family ran S. B. Winsor Dairy, and now Bev is the "senior executive." When I was a child our family had milk delivered a couple of times a week by that dairy.

    We have both Coggeshall and Remington connections way back in our ancestry. But the most satisfying part of meeting them was fellowship in the Lord, as we have a shared faith in Jesus Christ.

    Notes:

    The children of Clarence & Mary grew up at 113 Greenville Ave., Johnston, RI. In the Federal Census of 1930, the family is living there.

    In the Federal Census of 1910, Clarence & Mary are living in Johnston, RI. They appear to be newlyweds living with her parents, Albert & Emma Remington.

    Clarence married Mary Elizabeth Remington Abt 1910. Mary (daughter of Albert Thomas Remington and Emma Jane Tonge) was born 15 Nov 1888, Johnston, RI; died 12 Aug 1983; was buried , Beech Grove Cemetery, Central Village, Westport, Bristol Co., MA. [Group Sheet]

    In the 1880 Federal Census, Albert, Emma, and their two oldest children are at Smithfield, RI. In 1900 they are at Graniteville, Johnston, RI, with six children. According to the 1900 census, Albert was born in MA.

    In the 1920 Federal Census, Albert T., Emma J., and daughter Agnes are living in Johnston, RI.

    Albert married Emma Jane Tonge 1 Jan 1873, Johnston, RI. Emma (daughter of John or William Tonge and Agnes Billsborough) was born Abt 26 Jun 1855, Allendale, North Providence, RI; died 20 Jun 1942, Cadmans Neck, South Westport, MA; was buried , Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport, MA.     Notes:

    In the 1860 Federal Census, William & Mary J. Remington are living at Smithfield, Providence, Co., RI. They have four children: William J., Mary E., Jonathan, & Albert.

    Apparently after his second marriage William & his wife Sarah moved to New Bedford, where they are found in the 1870 census. However, they are back in Coventry, RI by the 1880 census.

    In later years he lived with his son Jonathan S. Remington at Greenville (Smithfield). He died at age 87, and the obituary was in The Evening Bulletin, Providence, as well as the New Bedford newspaper.

    The birth record of son Charles gives William's birthplace as Warwick, RI.

    William married Mary Jane West 21 Aug 1848; divorced Oct 1868, RI. Mary (daughter of Hiram West, II and Elizabeth Betsey Pratt) was born Feb 1831, Warwick, RI; died 23 Dec 1918, Cranston, RI; was buried , Intervale Cemetery, North Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]
