Remington age 24 is living in Chicago, working as a store clerk, and boarding with John & Emma Shields. His parents are living at Geneseo, IL. In 1920 Henry W. Remington age 64 is living in Bristol, RI, with his wife Anna B. age 60, In 1930 he is age 74 and in New Port Richey, Pasco County, FL, with his wife Agatha T. age 55.

Could he have married first to Ida E. Newell, in 1877 (see RI Marriage Index)? Or, that may have been a different Henry W. Remington who married her.

In the 1850 Federal Census, William is age 22, living with his mother and others at Warren, Bristol Co., RI. In the 1880 Federal Census, it may be this couple, William A. & Maria L. Remington, both aged 52, who are living in Geneseo, Henry Co., Illinois. Their birthplaces and those of their parents match this couple.

Yes, it must be. In the 1870 Federal Census, at Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa, this household is listed: William Remington 40 MA, Maria Remington 38 MA, Henry Remington 14 RI, Maria Remington 3 IA, Charles Talbot 20 RI, Harriet Remmington 65 MA, & Mary Coleman 20 Ireland.

William and his brother John may have married sisters, as both wives have the surname Cole.

William married Maria Louisa Cole 7 Jun 1855, RI. Maria (daughter of Eben Cole) was born Between 1826 and 1832, MA; died Aft 1 Jun 1880. [Group Sheet]

In the 1830 Federal Census, there is a Samuel W. Remington residing at Rehoboth, Bristol County, MA. Probably that is this Samuel.

Samuel married Harriet A. Reed 28 Nov 1819, Rehoboth, MA. Harriet was born Abt 1802, MA; died Aft 1 Jun 1870. [Group Sheet]

Harriet was "of Providence." In the 1850 Federal Census, Harriet Remington is age 48 and living at Warren, Bristol Co., RI, along with two of her sons, William & John, and other individuals. In 1870 she is still at Warren, age 68, living with her daughter Harriet Talbot and family. However, she seems to have been listed twice, as she is Harriet Remmington, age 54 MA, living with William & Maria Remmington at Davenport, Iowa, also in 1870. Charles Talbot, age 20, is also there in Iowa, so it certainly is the same Harriet. Charles was likely a son of her daughter Harriet (Remington) Talbot.
