William married Adele S. Remington 2 Oct 1872, RI. Adele (daughter of William Humphrey Remington and Jane Smith) was born 23 May 1852, RI; died 28 Sep 1948; was buried , North Burial Ground, Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]

"Mrs. Wood is a native of Providence, and actively identified with the social life of the city. She is a woman of wide culture, and has also greatly travelled, having made a trip around the world in 1910. (See Remington IX.) Mr. and Mrs. Wood were the parents of two chilren: 1. William Remington, born in Providence, Jan. 14, 1876; received his education in the Providence High School, and was graduated from
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; on completing his training he became a naval architect, gaining a position of prominence in this field, in which he was engaged at the outbreak of the war; upon America's entry into the conflict he offered his services to Secretary Daniels and was commissioned assistant superintendent of the Hull division buying department of the Mare Island Naval Base, San Francisco; Mr. Wood is now engaged in this work; he married Caroline Jonsen, of Boston, Mass.; Mr. Wood owns a large ranch in California. Children: i. Remington, who after making a determined effort to enlist in some branch of service in the United States Army or Navy, who is now but sixteen years of age, went to Canada, enlisted in the Canadian army, and is now serving with Canadian troops. ii. Richard. iii. Elizabeth. 2. Florence, born Jan. 28, 1878, in Providence, R. I.; married George Owen, an instructor in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in the department of marine architect; they reside at Newton, Mass. Children: i. George. ii. Florence." A native of England, William Wood came to America scarcely under a century ago accompanied by his wife. They settled in Providence. R. I. When the gold fever caught the country, with its accompanying whirl-wind of prospecting and mining, William Wood, Sr., joined the ranks of the 'forty-niners' and went West to California, where he died shortly after his arrival. The RI Cemetery Database has William's date of death as 9 Sept 1864.

William married Jane Smith 17 Apr 1850. Jane (daughter of Richard Smith and Elizabeth Phillips) was born Abt 1829, RI; died 7 Jul 1902; was buried , North Burial Ground, Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]

In the 1880 Federal Census, Jane Remington is age 51, a widow, living at Providence, RI, with her daughter Adele and son-in-law William H. Wood.

BSR's Remington Ancestry Chart has Enoch's date of birth as 1 January 1795. Perhaps that was a baptism? Unfortunately, neither BSR or M. Benns gives any sources notes.

The RI Cemetery Database says 1792. Cause of death is noted as sunstroke.

Enoch married Phebe Short 13 Nov 1814, Barrington, RI. Phebe (daughter of John Short and Betsey Scott) was born 9 Apr 1797, Barrington, RI; died 31 Jul 1870, Providence, RI; was buried , Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]

BSR gives her date of birth as 17 April 1797. RI Cemetery Database says she died of dropsy.
