Notes:

In the 1880 Federal Census, Alfred & Ella are living at East Providence, RI, with their three young sons. In 1920, Alfred is still there, age 70, with five of his children. They are living on Barrington Rd., right near his brother Isaac and family.

Alfred married Eliza Rechella "Ella" Turner 22 Nov 1876. Eliza was born Abt 1855, RI; died Between 1900 and 1 Jun 1920. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

I have estimated Isaac's year of birth, based on his age in the 1870 Federal Census. At that time, the family is living in East Providence, RI. Isaac is age 58 and Hannah is 53. Four of their children are in the household: Isaac R. 23, Alfred J. 20, Martha B. 22, & Hannah M. 16. In 1880, Isaac & Hannah are still at East Providence, and their daughter Mattie B. is living with them. They are near Russel D. Kent (Hannah's brother), who is living with his daughter and family, the Houghtons.

Isaac's marriage is noted in the book "Genealogies of the Different Families Bearing the Name of Kent in the United States . . . " by L. Vernon Briggs, p. 149. However, this section is prefaced with the author's comment: "Others by the name of Kent whom I have been unable to locate, but who are connected with the above families, are as follows."

Isaac & Hannah were both "of Seekonk," and were married by the Rev. J. O. Barney. The Kent genealogy book shows that they had two children, Alfred J. & Hannah Maria. However, someone has faintly pencilled in the margin "Isaac R. & Ruth Anne." This is partly confirmed because Isaac is in the 1870 census with his parents; however, Ruth is not. She married be married, possibly to Robert Pearse (needs more research -- see notes for Ruth).

Isaac married Hannah Remington Kent 20 Apr 1837. Hannah (daughter of Alfred Kent and Ruth Remington) was born 14 Nov 1816, MA; died 13 Dec 1892; was buried , Lakeside Cemetery, Newman Ave., East Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]

Hannah & Isaac were 5th cousins (needs research to confirm).

I have estimated Hannah's year of birth, based on her age in the 1870 Federal Census.

Josiah — Martha "Patty" Brown. Martha was born Between Dec 1775 and 1776; died 7 Oct 1849; was buried , Lakeside Cemetery, Newman Ave., East Providence, RI. [Group Sheet]

Martha's death is noted in the Kent genealogy book, p. 149: "Martha (Brown) Kent, c.Dec 1775 - 7 Oct 1849, daughter of Isaac Brown."

Alfred married Ruth Remington 7 Nov 1813, Barrington, RI. Ruth (daughter of Enoch Remington, II and Ruth Armington) was born 28 Dec 1793, RI; died Aft 1 Jun 1870. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

Ruth is mentioned in the will of her grandfather Enoch Remington. Boyd Scott Remington has her birth date as 28 Dec 1792, but this is not possible if her brother was born in May of 1793. In the 1870 Federal Census, I believe this is the Ruth Kent, age 76, residing in East Providence, RI. This would make her birth year c.1793. In the household with her are Russel D. Kent, age 51 (probably her son ?); Abby ann Kent, age 51 (probably Russel's wife ?); Clara A., 20; and Anna R., 15. All are born in RI, except Russel in MA.

Both Josiah Kent and his wife Elizabeth Bullock were descendants of Mayflower Pilgrim John Howland.

Enoch married Ruth Armington 5 Aug 1790, Barrington, RI. Ruth (daughter of John Armington and Ruth Kent) was born 29 Jun 1769, Rehoboth, MA; died 24 May 1857; was buried , Prince's Hill Burial Ground, County Rd., Barrington, RI. [Group Sheet]

BSR has her birth date as 29 June 1771.
