    In the 1870 Federal Census, Reuben & Mary E. Remington, ages 37 & 21, are living at Dallas, Polk Co., OR. They have two young daughters, Lucy 2, & Sarah 1 month.

    In 1880 they are still living at Dallas, OR. There are 6 children in the household, and the family is living next door to John & Masey Kinsey, probably Mary's parents (I am adding them to the family tree with this assumption).

    In1900 they are still in the same town. The household consists of Reuben C. & Mary E. Remington, and four of their children (youngest one illegible - Gilla?).

    By 1910 Mary has been widowed.

    In the 1910 Federal Census, Mary E. Remington is age 60 and widowed, living at East Dallas. Polk Co., OR. Her son Marion, age 36 and single, is living with her. According to the census data, Mary has had 9 children, 8 of whom are still living.

    In the 1930 Federal Census Mary is age 80 and living with son Marion at Salt Creek, Polk Co., OR.

    Note from Juliann Benson: Mary fell in her home and broke her hip and died six days later.

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Ezekiel and Elizabeth are living at Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., Iowa, with their eight children. They are still there in 1860. In the meantime, the three oldest children have left the home, but three younger ones have been added to the family. The children in the household are: Thompson, Elizabeth, Lucy, Henrietta, Sheldon, Highly, Benjamin, & Aaron.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, the family is still at Oskaloosa. Son Sheldon, age 21, is married and living next door.

    In 1880 Ezekiel & Elizabeth, ages 73 and 70, are still living at (West) Oskaloosa, and in the household is their son Aaron C., age 25. Also with them is Alice Delong, 19, a grandchild, as well as two other individuals -- William Jones, a farm laborer, and Minnie Prindle, a servant girl. Nearby is son Benjamin and family.

    According to the 1880 census data, Ezekiel had heart disease. Apparently he died not long after the census was taken.
