Albert A. Remington, III

Notes:

Albert A. Remington III was the only child of his parents. He was born in Attleboro, MA; spent his earliest years in Providence, RI; and then his family moved to Rumford, RI, where he lived for about 25 years. Albert graduated from Providence County Day School and Brown University. For many years he was active both in the Masons and in Sons of the American Revolution, in which he served as Historian General, President of the RI Society, and National Trustee of RI.

In the 1930 Federal Census, A. Andrew Remington, Jr., age 27 b RI, is living at Attleboro, Bristol Co., MA. He is married to Charlotte R., age 32, born MA. They are boarding at 124 Pleasant St., the home of Lillie MacDonald, age 63.

A. Andrew is a salesman for a gold & silver refiner, while Charlotte is a bookkeeper at a bank. According to the census data, both of A's parents were born in RI; Charlotte's father was born in Scotland, while her mother was born in England. Apparently the couple was married within the past year, because the ages at marriage are the same as their current ages.

Albert married Charlotte R. Campbell Abt 1930. Charlotte was born 1 May 1897, MA; died Nov 1979, RI. [Group Sheet]

In the Federal Census of 1910, Albert A. & Anna F. Remington, ages 46 & 34, are living at Providence, RI. With them are Ruth O., 17, and Albert A. Jr., 7.

In the 1920 Federal Census, Albert, Anna, and son Albert A. are living in Attleborough, MA.

In 1930 Albert A. & Anna F. Remington are living at Cranston, Providence Co., RI.

Albert married Anna G. Fowler 9 Apr 1901, RI. Anna was born 1874, RI; died 1967; was buried , Pocasset Cemetery, Cranston, RI. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

In the 1860 Federal Census, Horace H. Remington is age 18, a master weaver, living with his mother, stepfather, and some siblings in "Warrick, RI."

Horace Remington was in the Civil War, a Sergeant in the RI 9th Infantry, Battalion C.

Horace & Zanna moved to Providence in 1864. He owned Horace Remington & Son, a smelting and refining company in Providence.

In the 1900 Federal Census, Horace & Zanna, ages 58 & 57, are living on Adelaide Ave., Providence, RI. With them are children Sarah & Clarence. Next door is son Horace and his family.

In the 1920 Federal Census, Horace & Edith are living at 172 Adelaide Ave., Providence, RI. His occupation is given as "gold refiner."

Horace married Zanna Celinda Straight 1 Nov 1860, RI. Zanna (daughter of William P. Straight and Sarah T. Gardner) was born 29 Jul 1842, Exeter, RI; died 11 Aug 1906, Providence, RI; was buried , Pocasset Cemetery, Cranston, RI. [Group Sheet]
