Nathaniel BOSWORTH

Notes:

Nathaniel came to America in 1634 with his parents on the ship Elizabeth & Dorcas. They settled at Hingham, MA. About 1645 Nathaniel married Bridget (m.n. unknown), probably a widow. He was a cooper and fisherman, and became Deacon of the Church at Hull, MA. In 1683 he and his family removed to Bristol, (now) RI. In the 1680s he built the first frame house in Bristol, on land he purchased on the east side of Hope Street just north of the bridge across Silver Creek. He became a citizen of Bristol at its first town meeting, and was the first Deacon of the first church formed in Bristol, the Congregational Church. The will of Nathaniel Bosworth, dated 15 March 1689, mentions wife Bridget; sons Nathaniel, Joseph, John, Jeremy, Bellamy, & Edward; and daughters Mary (poss. Lobdell), Mary (Jacob), & Bridget.
