    Notes:

    The 1900 census says he was born Sep 1878, but a family tree at Rootsweb says 27 Feb 1879.

    Notes:

    In the 1880 Federal Census, Charles & Samantha Remmington, ages 29 & 23, are at Webster, Webster Co., IA. They have two children, Charles O. & Nelson B.

    In the 1900 Federal Census, Charles & Samantha and six of their children are living at Athol, Kootenai Co., ID. According to the census data, they have been married 24 years; Samantha has had 7 children, of whom 7 are still living. So, there must be another child somewhere.

    Possibly they had a daughter named Lucy Amanda (b 3 Aug 1880 in Webster City, Hamilton Co., IA; d 9 Feb 1960 in Sioux City, Woodbury Co., IA; md Asa Harkness b 10 Jun 1870 Sutherland, O'Brien Co., IA; md 5 Apr 1897 in Vermillion, Clay Co., SD. (This needs more research. Asa & Lucy had a daughter named Samantha, so that fact, and Lucy's birthplace, are strong clues.) See also note for daughter Libby.

    In 1910 they are still at Athol, with Rhoda & Norman/Newman S. Their adult daughter Jerusha is listed on a different census sheet, although she is living in town and is a public school teacher. Perhaps she boards with different families (?).

    Another genealogy has Charles's date of death as 19 Jul 1938, at Orafina, Clearwater Co., ID. This needs more research.

    An online genealogy lists these two daughters: Lucy Amanda 3 Aug 1880 (Webster City, IA) - 9 Feb 1960, and Mary Elizabeth 17 Jul 1882 (Webster City, IA) - 12 Dec 1975 (Portland, OR). I see Libby in the 1900 census,but with a different birthdate, and no Lucy. This family needs more research.

    Charles married Samantha Ann Brewer 26 Nov 1876. Samantha was born 2 Jun 1857, WI; died 22 Feb 1922, Athol, Kootenai Co., ID. [Group Sheet]

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Solomon appears to be the individual of that name living at Oswego, Oswego Co., NY. His age is given as 39, which is correct for him. The head of household is Isaac Remington, age 62; both are born VT. Also in the home are the following (not listed in this order): Mary 38, Huldah 27, Joseph 20, Wealthy 11, Truman 8, Irving 3, & Eveline 1.

    In the 1860 Federal Census, Solomon Remington and family are living at Clay, Jones Co., IA. His second wife, Fanny, is age 30; four of his children and one of hers by her previous marriage are in the household.

    In 1870 Solom Remington, 60, and his wife Fannie, 40, are living at Webster, Webster Co., IA.

    In 1880 Solomon & Fannie A. are 69 & 49, still at Webster. Son Erving O., age 31, is with them.

    Solomon married Mary Margaret Ostrander 4 Oct 1836. Mary (daughter of Henry G. Ostrander and Hannah Eliza Unknown) was born 2 Aug 1817, NY; died 29 Jul 1854. [Group Sheet]

    Another genealogy has her dob as 8 Sep 1817.

  1. 8.  Isaac Remington was born 1 Mar 1787, Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT (son of Jonathan Remington and Martha Sprague); died Aft 1 Jun 1850.

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Isaac is age 62, living at Oswego, Oswego Co., NY. With him is son Solomon and his family, as well as Huldah & Joseph, probably two more of his children. Living two doors down are Nathan & Rhoda Remington; I am making an assumption that Nathan is another son in this family.

    Pat Boyden's genealogy has Isaac's date of death as 11 Nov 1860. However, I have not been able to locate him anywhere in the 1860 census. (This needs more research to confirm.)

    Isaac & Huldah also may have had two additional daughters, named Sarah & Betsy (per notes sent by Charles Norman Hill).

    Follow-up to above note: I have found a couple in the 1850 census, named Oliver & Sarah Morgan. From her daughter Brintha's gravestone inscription, I know that Sarah's maiden name is Remington. Therefore, I am including Sarah as a daughter in this family group (needs further research to confirm).

    Isaac married Huldah Doty Abt 2 Dec 1809, Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT. Huldah (daughter of Jorathmiel Doty and Sarah Look) was born Abt 15 Apr 1789, Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA; died 1849, South Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT. [Group Sheet]
