In the 1920 Federal Census, Jasper & Alice Achorn are ages 42 & 30, living at 357 Mendon Ave., Pawtucket, Providence Co., RI. They have three daughters: Muriel 6, Hazel 3 11/12, & Evelyn 2 2/12. Also with them is Laura Achorn, mother, age 69, b ME.

In the 1930 Federal Census, the family is living at 301 Glenwood in Pawtucket, RI. Jasper is 53 and Alice is 41. Their children are: Muriel 16, Hazel 14, Evelyn 12, & Emma (?) 7 1/12. Also with them is Laura Achorn, widowed mother, age 79, ME. Is she Jasper's stepmother, perhaps? In addition, Frank S. Akin, age 47 and single, Alice's brother, is with them.

Jasper married Alice Grinnell Russell Akin Abt 1912. Alice (daughter of Ephraim G. Akin and Emma Russell Hicks) was born Apr 1889, Westport, Bristol Co., MA; died 1961. [Group Sheet]

In the 1870 Federal Census, Warren is age 25 and living at Warren, Knox Co., ME. He is married to Arleen, age 20, and they have a daughter Opal, 3. The census gives Warren's birthplace as Waldboro, ME; Arleen's birthplace as Cushing, ME; and Opal's birthplace as Jefferson, ME.

In 1880 Warren is age 35 and living at Waldboro, Lincoln Co., ME, with his parents Solomon & Jane A. Achorn. Opal, identified as granddaughter age 12, is also in the household. Warren is married to Laura A., age 30, and they have a son Jasper M., age 3. It is unclear whether Laura A. might be the same as Arleen in the previous census, but the age gap between Opal and Jasper suggest that Laura may be a second wife for Warren. Also in the home is Ida B. Robinson, identified as "daughter." However, she is either Laura's sister or daughter (see notes for Laura's father, Frank Robinson). In this census, three other Achorn families are nearby: John, Jacob, & Lowell.

In the 1920 and 1930 censuses, Laura Achorn is a widow ages 69/79 living with her son Jasper M. Achorn and family at Pawtucket, RI.

In the 1900 Federal Census, Ephraim G. & Emma R. Akin are living on Babbit St., New Bedford, MA. They have three children: Frank S. 15, Alice R. 11, & Sarah R. ?. Also in the household is Charles Hicks, 66, Emma's father.

In 1910 the family is still there: Ephraim is 48, Emma is 50, Frank F. is 26, Alice G. R. is 21, and Sarah E. is 16. Charles is no longer with them, so probably he has passed away.

I have not been able to locate the family in the 1920 census. However, in the 1921 New Bedford City Directory, Ephraim G. & Emma Akin are living at 11 Babbitt St., along with son Frank S. Akin, who is an electrical instructor.

Ephraim married Emma Russell Hicks Abt 1883. Emma (daughter of Charles Russell Hicks and Alice Grinnell Peirce) was born Abt 1859, Tiverton, RI; died 2 May 1924; was buried , Rural Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. [Group Sheet]

In the 1850 Federal Census, Solomon is 45 and Jane A. is 25 (looks as if 2 was overwritten as 3, but note ages in later censuses). They are living at Waldboro, Lincoln Co., Maine. There are five children in the household: Oliver 19, Bertha M. 16, John A. 15, Warren 5, & Alma F. 1. I assume that Jane is Solomon's second wife, and that the three older children had a different mother. The family is living next to George Achorn and family one one side, and Jacob Achorn and family on the other. They are also near Thomas Achorn.

In 1860 Solomon is 54 and Jane A. is 36. They are still at Waldboro, ME. Four children are in the household: Warren 15, Alma F. 11, Everett S. 9, & Susan E. 5. They are living near other Achorn families: Elbridge S., James, John, Jacob, Martin, & Moses.

In 1870 Solomon is 63 and Jane A. is 46. They are still at Waldboro, nearby other Achorn families: Thomas R., Alanson, Jacob, John, Nathaniel, & James.

In 1880 Solomon & Jane A. Achorn, ages 74 & 56 are still at Waldboro. With them is granddaughter Opal H. Achorn, 12; she seems to be Warren's daughter by a first marriage (see notes for Warren). Also in the household is Solomon & Jane's son Warren 35, his wife Laura A. 30, their son Jasper M. 3, and Ida B. Robinson 12. Ida is either Laura's sister or daughter. In this census, three other Achorn families are nearby: John, Jacob, & Lowell.

Solomon married Jane A. Unknown Abt 1844. Jane was born Between 1815 and 1824, ME; died Aft 1 Jun 1880. [Group Sheet]

In the 1870 Federal Census, Frank & Clara A. Robinson, ages 53 & 50, are living at Jefferson, Lincoln Co., ME. There are eight of their children (presumed) in the household: Rosco 24, Ela J. 22 (female), Laura A. 20, Lillian (Lileon) 17, Arvill 7 (female), Clara B. 6, Frank F. 3, & Ida B. 2. There is a possibility that Ela is Rosco's wife, and that one or two of the younger children belong to them. However, this is just a possibility. Also, in 1880 Ida B. Robinson, age 12, is living with the Achorn family, with the identification "daughter," which raises the possibility that she may be Laura's daughter. This needs more research.

Frank — Clara A. Unknown. Clara was born Abt 1810, ME; died Aft 1 Jun 1860. [Group Sheet]

In the 1850 Federal Census, Daniel & Sarah Akin are living at Westport, MA, with the elder Akins and other extended family, including Sarah's mother. Daniel is a sailor.

In 1860, Daniel & Sarah Aiken are still at Westport. They have three children: Charles H. 9, Frank S. 6, & Cornelius 4. Sarah's mother, Rebecca Allen is still with them, at age 82.

In 1870 Daniel & Sarah are still at Westport, and have three sons, Charles H., Frank S., & Ephraim G. Daniel is a teamster; Charles is a mariner.

In 1880 they are still at Westport, ages 58 & 62, with two of their children in the household: Ephraim G. 18, & Nellie S. 12. Daniel is a farmer and has asthma.

Daniel married Sarah R. Allen 2 Nov 1848, Dartmouth, MA. Sarah (daughter of Humphrey Allen and Rebecca Unknown) was born Abt 1818, MA; died Aft 1 Jun 1880. [Group Sheet]

In the 1860 Federal Census, Charles R. & Alice G. Hicks, ages 25 & 22, are living at Tiverton, RI. They have a daughter, Emma, age 1.

The family remains at Tiverton through the 1880 census, where they are living adjacent to Charles's brothers Edward & Samuel and their families, as well as his parents and single brother John, Jr.

In 1900, Charles Hicks is age 66, living at New Bedford, MA, with his married daughter Emma Akin and family. His wife Alice is married to William Harps and also living at New Bedford.

Charles married Alice Grinnell Peirce Abt 1858. Alice (daughter of Seabury Peirce and Phebe Remington) was born Abt 4 Oct 1836, New Bedford, MA; died 25 Nov 1917, New Bedford, MA; was buried , Rural Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. [Group Sheet]

In the 1900 Federal Census, Alice is married to William Harps and is living at New Bedford, MA. The census gives her age as 50 and her date of birth as Oct 1849; however, she is actually about 64 years old, since she was born in 1836.

Her middle name was probably Grinnell. Alice died at the age of 81y 1m 21d, of cerebral hemorrage, on 25 Nov 1917.

Alice is buried at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford, MA. This cemetery lot has family members of the surnames Remington, Pierce, Briggs, Swift, Harps, Achorn, & Akin. It is next to the lot of David Pierce, his two wives, and other extended family members.
