According to Remington descendant Gretchen Paulsen, Dorothy was the first female in this branch of her family to graduate from college; she achieved highest honors.

Dorothy married Donald Albert Gannon Jul 1928, Richmond, VT. Donald was born 9 Jun 1903, Richmond, VT; died 23 Feb 1990; was buried , Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT. [Group Sheet]

In the 1910 Federal Census, Harry & Adeline are living at Waitsfield, Washington Co., VT. They have a daughter, Dorothy Julia, age 7. Joseph is a butter maker at a creamery.

Harry married Adeline Martha Randall Abt 1902. Adeline (daughter of Samuel J. Randall and Ansurilla Lucinda Remington) was born Aug 1878, VT. [Group Sheet]

In the 1880 Federal Census, Samuel & Ansurilla, both aged 37, are living at Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT. They have one daughter, Agnes R., 5; also boarding with them is mother-in-law Adeline Remington, 68.

In 1900 they are still at Huntington, VT: Samuel 57 (b Apr 1843), Ansurilla 56 (b Nov 1843), Adeline M. 21 (b Aug 1878), & Grace I. 12 (b Nov 1887).

According to descendant Gretchen Paulsen, Samuel fought in the Civil War, and went westward to pan for gold. Tragically, a couple of weeks after his wife died, Samuel was kicked in the head by a horse and also died.

Disease causing death: Traumatic Peritonis (Kicked by a horse).

Samuel married Ansurilla Lucinda Remington 1 Jan 1874, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT. Ansurilla (daughter of Philemon Remington and Adaline Fitch) was born 8 Nov 1843, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT; died 10 Nov 1920, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT; was buried , Maplewood Cemetery, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT. In the 1850 Federal Census, Philemon and his family are living next door to Rhoda Remington and the Mix family, at Huntington, Chittenden, VT. Mrs. Joshua Mix is the former Sophronia Remington, Philemon's first cousin. In the census Philemon appears to be age 31 and his wife Adeline is 38. Three children are in the household: Mitchell, Annette, & Anaurilla (?).

In the 1860 census, the family is at Huntington: Philemon 46, Adeline 48, Mitchell 21, Annette 19, & Ann 17.

In 1870 Philemon & Adeline are still at Huntington, with their daughter "Ansarilla" (?).

I have placed Philemon in this family group because Pat Boyden's genealogy lists him as a son of Jeremiah & Mary (Ross) Remington (needs more research to confirm).

Philemon married Adaline Fitch Abt 1838, VT. Adaline (daughter of Fred Fitch and Nancy Unknown) was born 7 Sep 1812, VT; died 22 Sep 1885, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT; was buried , Maplewood Cemetery, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT. [Group Sheet]

John FITCH, from Hartford, CT, located in Buel's Gore in 1789. He was a grandfather of Mrs. Adeline (FITCH) REMINGTON, now residing with her daughter, Mrs. Samuel J. RANDALL, on road 20. She is now sixty nine years of age and has resided upon this farm thirty two years. Her husband, Philemon REMINGTON, died in February, 1880, aged sixty-six years.
