    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, John & Betsey, ages 59 & 57, are living at Tiverton, RI. Five children are in the household with them: Amanda, Frederick, Albert, John A., & William W.

    John died at age 83 (RIDI).

    Notes:

    According to John's Revolutionary War Pension File, both he and Mary were born in Tiverton, and knew each other from their youth.

    I have roughly estimated his year of birth. At present it is unclear which family group this John Manchester belongs to. He may be a son of Isaac Manchester and Hannah Cundall, since the name Isaac is found several times in subsequent generations.

    Or, could he be a son of John & Lidia who were married 13 May 1749 at Tiverton?

    Glenn Russell's family tree at Rootsweb's Worldconnect lists 8 children for this couple, but I am including only 5 of them at this point. This family needs more research.

    Notes:

    Mary's maiden name is identified in the Revolutionary War Pension file of her husband John Manchester (#W21752).

    She is most likely related to Elizabeth Fish, who married Benjamin Hambly, possibly a sister or a cousin.

    Notes:

    According to the private journal of Elder Peleg Burroughs of Tiverton, a Minister of the Gospel, "on the 8th day of September A. D. 1780 -- Preached at B. Hambly's upon Psalm 107:31 (O that men would praise xc) married John Manchester to M.F. and stayed all night at Bro. Davenports."

    Benjamin Hambly's wife was Elizabeth Fish, probably related to Mary (needs more research).
