In the 1850 Federal Census, William W. & Hannah Barton, ages 45 & 39 RI, are living at Abington, Luzerne Co., PA. They have nine children, all b PA. There are several other families nearby with Rhode Islanders, such as Joseph Colvin, Reuben Sherman, Joseph Sherman, Arnold Franklin, & Danas Knight.

In 1860 William & Hannah, ages 50 & 48, are living at Scott, Luzerne Co., PA. There are five children in the household.

William married Hannah Remington Abt 1830. Hannah (daughter of Russell Remington and Rachael Colvin) was born Abt 1812, RI; died Aft 1 Jun 1850. [Group Sheet]

Russell & Rachel lived in Cranston.

Cranston Probate Bk. 2, p. 315: whereas Russell Remington late of Cranston, deceased, died Intestate, the court appoints Mrs. Rachel Remington, widow of Deceased, administratrix; dated 9 August 1817.

At least one person has Abby (Remington) Vose as a daughter of this couple; she was born c 12 Feb 1809. This needs more research to confirm.

Russell married Rachael Colvin Abt 1810. Rachael (daughter of Benedict Colvin and Hannah Benedict) was born 22 May 1769, Coventry, RI; died 1 Dec 1837; was buried , Colvin Cemetery, Colvintown Rd., Coventry, RI. [Group Sheet]

Cranston Probate Bk. 2, p. 315: whereas Russell Remington late of Cranston, deceased, died Intestate, the court appoints Mrs. Rachel Remington, widow of Deceased, administratrix; dated 9 August 1817.

In the 1820 Federal Census, Rachael Colvin is listed at Cranston with one son and one daughter, both age 10-15.

Scituate Land Evidence Vol. 8 p. 39 records a transaction in which Jonathan Remington received a deed on 11 April 1785 from Christopher and Wait Lippitt. Probably it refers to this Jonathan. Since his great-grandmother was Martha Lippitt, probably Christopher was a relative.

In the 1800 Federal Census, he is listed at Scituate as Jonathan Remmington (same page as Joseph Remington), with a household as follows: 1 FWM 45+, 2 FWF <10, 1 FWF 10-15, 1 FWF 26-44, and 1 FWF 45+.

In 1810 he is listed at Scituate as Johnathan Remington, but the household consists of just an adult male and an adult female.

On 20 March 1776, Elisha & Desire Clark of North Kingstown purchased land in Exeter from Jonathan Remington of Warwick, yeoman. Was it this Jonathan? If so, he would have been about 33. But see other Jonathan Remingtons on this tree.

Boyd Scott Remington shows two marriages for him, so I am entering them, although no sources are noted (needs further research).

Jonathan married Mary Havens 15 Jun 1769, Warwick, RI. Mary (daughter of Nathaniel Havens) was born Abt 1747, RI; died Aft 6 Aug 1810, Scituate, RI. [Group Sheet]

Mary was "of Nathaniel, of North Kingstown."

I have made an assumption that she is the wife implied in the 1800 and 1810 censuses.
