  1. 2.  Ferris Angevine was born Abt 1795, NY; died Between 1850 and 1869.

    Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census, Ferris & Elizabeth are living at Niagara, NY, with their two children.

    See notes for Elizabeth.

Ferris — Elizabeth Betsy Remington. Elizabeth (daughter of Daniel "Dan" Remington and Hannah Goff) was born Abt 1804, NY; died Aft 1 Jun 1880. [Group Sheet]

  2. 3.  Elizabeth Betsy Remington was born Abt 1804, NY (daughter of Daniel "Dan" Remington and Hannah Goff); died Aft 1 Jun 1880.

    Notes:

I am not positive that this Elizabeth belongs in this family, and/or that she is the one who married Ferris Angevine. However, I am placing her and Ferris here because of some notes in the manuscript section of NE Hist & Gen Soc. These notes state that Dan & Hannah had a daughter Betsey (Elizabeth) who married Jackson Angevine. However, the only Elizabeth Angevine I can find in the 1850 census is married to Ferris Angevine and has a son Jackson. It seems that this may be the correct family. However, more research is needed to confirm that Ferris's wife is really Dan & Hannah's daughter.

In 1860, 1870, & 1880, Elizabeth Angevine is living at Niagara, NY, with her son Jackson.

    Children:
    1. 1. Jackson Angevine was born Abt 1828, NY; died Aft 1 Jun 1880.
    2. Emily Angevine was born Abt 1834, NY.

Generation: 3

  1. 6.  Daniel "Dan" Remington was born 1 Mar 1775, Suffield, Hartford County, CT (son of Elihu Remington, Sr. and Experience Hastings); died Abt 1871, Caro, MI.

    Notes:

According to notes in the Special Collections at NE Hist & Gen Soc, Dan Remington and his family went to Rush, Monroe Co., NY, in 1804 from Suffield, CT. At that time there was a colony formed consisting of families from CT, including Goff, Brainerd, Tupper, and others.

History of Niagara County, NY, pub 1878, p. 293, states that Dan Remington came to the home of his brother-in-law Charles Goff in Niagara Township in 1825. Later he removed to Michigan, settling in Macomb County, probably in 1836. (noted in same source as above)

This manuscript at NE Hist & Gen Soc has Dan's birth year as 1774; and says that he and Hannah had fourteen children, four of whom died young; however, only 9 are listed in the file; the list includes an Abner, a Justin, and a Jesse. However, I am not sure about the accuracy of these names in this family.

In the 1850 Federal Census, "Dan" Remington b CT is age 75, a farmer, living with his son Norman and family at Ray, Macomb Co., MI.

In 1860 Dan Remington is age 85 MA, a shoemaker, living with his son Joseph in Shelby, Macomb Co., MI.

I have not found him listed in the 1870 census.

According to the History of Macomb County, MI (Google Books), Daniel died at age 96, "from the effects of an injury in a sawmill from a flying slab."

Daniel married Hannah Goff 6 Sep 1801, Middle Haddam, CT. Hannah (daughter of Charles Goff and Deborah Hill) was born 11 Aug 1781, CT; died 28 Jan 1834, Washington, Macomb Co., MI. [Group Sheet]

  2. 7.  Hannah Goff was born 11 Aug 1781, CT (daughter of Charles Goff and Deborah Hill); died 28 Jan 1834, Washington, Macomb Co., MI.

    Notes:

Hannah Remington is mentioned in her father's will (see notes for Charles Goff).

On the 1870 Federal Census in Michigan, her son Norman gave her birthplace as CT.
