From Roxanne Fritz: "My grandfather was adopted by Archie and Minnie Remington, but we don't know much about the story behind it. They already had two children when he came into the family. They named him Larry Page Remington and we've heard he came from an orphanage in the Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. My grandparents owned Bonnie Brae Dairy and had 600 acres of land in Eau Claire."

Larry married Vivian Myrtle Jackson Abt 1928. Vivian was born 21 Apr 1910, WI; died 11 Jan 1993, WI; was buried , Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, WI. [Group Sheet]

In the Federal Census of 1900, Archie & Minnie, ages 38 & 32, are living at Spring Brook, Dunn Co., WI. They have two children: Lake 7 and Ruth 5. Also with them are three boarders, Mabel Reynolds 29, Robbie Wahl 18, & Louis Brown 17; and Archie's parents, Orthos & Mary A. Remington, ages 72 & 59.

In the Federal Census of 1910, Archie & Minnie, ages 47 & 42, are living at Union, Eau Claire Co., WI. They have 3 children in the household: Lake 16, Ruth 15, & Larry 3.

In the Federal Census of 1920, Archie & Minnie, ages 57 & 52, are still living at Union, Eau Claire Co., WI. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson in the household: Lake 26, Violet 25, Clarence 13 (Larry?), and Archie 3; all b WI.

Archie married Minnie A. Blank Abt 1890. Minnie was born Jan 1868, WI; died 1946; was buried , Waneka Cemetery, Elk Mound, Dunn Co., WI. [Group Sheet]

In 1870 & 1880, Orthos & Mary are living at Spring Brook, Dunn Co., WI, with their three children. Elsewhere, his name is spelled Orthus.

In the Federal Census of 1900, Orthus & Mary are ages 72 & 59, living with or next to son Archie and family at Spring Brook.

In the Federal Census of 1910, Orthos T. & Mary A. Remington are ages 82 & 68. They are still at Spring Brook, near married son Clark who is a dentist.

In the Federal Census of 1920, Orthus Remington is a widower aged 92, living with married daughter Emma Turner and family at Spooner, Washburn Co., WI.

Orthos married Mary Ann Dixon Abt 1858. Mary was born Abt Jan 1841, NH; died 1913, WI; was buried , Waneka Cemetery, Elk Mound, Dunn Co., WI. [Group Sheet]
